zackcj7
Can someone tell me where the vacuum line attached to B in the drawing below goes? Mine is just hanging. The EGR Solenoid is right beside the ballast resistor next to the airbox.
Geonovast
There should be a round, flatish valve on the driver's side of the intake manifold. That's the actual EGR valve, which should be connected to point B.

hitman72
sorry to be a little off topic but, is there a good write up on how to make sure your EGR system is working properly. Cause I don't really know how it works (i get the idea) and have no idea if it is working properly. thanks

hitman72
Wait a second, I am not looking at the truck at the moment but i would swear that I have a hose coming from the manifold to air box (looks to be a metal corrugated pipe, like a small dryer vent pipe) and there is a valve mounted in the side of the air box. Am i completely wrong, is this another system i am looking at?
Geonovast
That vent dryer hose thing doesn't actually do much. It's just to help warm up air before it gets to the intake, it doesn't route any exhaust. If you pull it off the manifold, you'll see that there's no hole. The EGR uses an actual pipe that's threaded into both manifolds.
hitman72
Roger thanks. So it can be removed? I guess I would need a new air box.....
Geonovast
Yes, it can be removed. No, you don't need a new air box. Why would you?
hitman72
I when I was thinking about it in my head I thought there was a hole where it came into the box. But then once you said that I realized it would just mean more air openings in the box....... Long story short a brain fart.... haha
Geonovast
Yup, doesn't matter since it's below the filter.
