On both my '86 and '88 models the bench seat will not go back as far as i'd like. I still have about 3 inches between the back of the seat and the rear panel. Has anyone found a way to make them go back farther? I'm 6'2 and could use a little more legroom.

MJ's really aren't known for being roomy.  The seat will only go as far as the rails will allow. You could modify the sliders by cutting them off the mount, adding some flat stock, moving the whole assembly rearward ...blah, blah, blah.  But it seems like a lot of trouble for 3 inches (that's what she said).  There is supposed to be some room behind the seat BTW. You may be able to find a different bench seat, like a 60/40 out of a different truck (Dakota, Durango) but they'd likely be even bigger.

All the small trucks i've had in the past Ranger, S10, etc. would go back all the way. I had plenty of leg room in those trucks. To me the 3 inches would be worth it. Being comfortable driving would be worth a little modification if that's what it will take.

Mine will go all the way to the rear of the cab. It sounds like yours is getting hung up on the rails. maybe remove it and see if there is junk in the track?

Both of them are stopping at the same point, but it's not a hard stop like it's hitting a metal stop. Both trucks had a good bit of trash under the seat when I got them. I'll remove the seat this weekend and see what's up.

Mine did the same thing, wouldn't go back all the way.  All I did was take the springs off of the bottom that make it spring forward.  I can now get the seat all the way to the back glass.  Been working great like this for years.
