mpace6a
So the intake on my 2.8 cracked..and i can get it repaired cheap, but i have a fuel injected intake, and was wondering if anyone knew of a carb that would bolt on to the fuel injection intake? Next question, does anyone know what this ground is for? Its back of the cab, passenger side. And lastly, whats this pink wire? 86MJV6
I have the same unused pink wire, I believe one of the other posts stated it was for the dome light. I don have a dome light, just b-billar lights so its an unused connector in mine. Not sure about the ground.
jimoshel
Ground looks like it may have been for a aftermarket Amplifier. Not OEM.

Geonovast
I believe the pink wire is for the factory cargo light, not a dome light. Not many had the cargo light, but I believe they were all wired for it.
gogmorgo
This begs the question, why do you want to go to a carb?
Geonovast
The 2.8's already carbed, I'm betting he just doesn't want to do the FI conversion.

mpace6a
The 2.8's already carbed, I'm betting he just doesn't want to do the FI conversion. Exactly. My intake cracked, and got to looking at the intake from the donor engine from an s10, and wondered if there was a carb that would work, because the OE carb is far to complicated and i want to do away with as much emissions and vacuum as possible, to hopefully get as much life as possible out of the 2.8. I don't want to buy a different intake specifically for a carb because they cost more than what i've got into this engine, and i can't justify spending money on a performance intake on a crap engine, but i may look into having an adapter made for this intake to mount a motorcraft 2 barrel i have off an old dodge
jimoshel
You could go to a after market carb. They're big bucks tho. S10's are so common you should be able to find what you need in any JY. I believe '85 was the last year for the S10 carb. May have been '86. Personally I believe you would be better off swapping to a TBI. Much simpler than a carb and improved performance. If you can't find what you need at a local JY, drop me a line. I may be able to help.
mpace6a
my biggest issue is i don't want to put any more money into it than is necessary, and at the same time want to clean up the engine bay. i havr the motorcraft carb, but the s10 tbi intake would need to be bored out to work with the carb...hopefully my oe intake can be repaired....
