offroader461 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 when i am installing my gears in my d30 and d35 do i need a new crush sleeve for the pinions???? where can i get just the sleeves...i have a lot of shims and new ring gear bolts just need new crush sleeves if required...
DirtyComanche Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Got pinion nuts? They're stovers - and shouldn't be reused. (Hey, there's a factory application of a stover for that other thread...) Anyways, Randys R&P, Reider Racing, etc all will sell crush sleeves. Ask about a crush sleeve eliminator if you want to save some headache (costs about $20).
offroader461 Posted March 19, 2007 Author Posted March 19, 2007 yea i heard about the crush sleeve eliminator thing in another thread....may have been you i read it from...i haven't yet pulled my old set-up out but I'm just trying to get all the parts together b4 we tear it down this weekend
Pete M Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Please tell me you aren't sinking money into a Dana35...
JOMJ87 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 do D44s or D30s out of MJs have a crush sleeves. I was think the 30 does but If so where do i find the crush sleeve eliminator. Cole
87manche Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 My D30 did not have a crush sleeve, just shims to set the pinion bearing. The d35 has a crush sleeve.
jeepthing07 Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Hi-pinions have shims low pinions have crush sleeves
offroader461 Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 yea I'm putting gears in my d35 for now because i can't find another axle here for under 300 bucks...money is tight right now b/c i lost my job and owe IRS 1300 bucks :headpop: but hey i got the gears for free out of my buddies XJ since i talked him into getting a 8.8 as far as i know from a local guy the D30 doesnt have a crush sleeve...i am still sceptical about the d35 having one.... i will get an 8.8 as soon as i have the money since i got the entire install kit for 50 bucks brand new in the box
jeepthing07 Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 D35's have the sleeve its $3 http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?pid=42102 no one makes a crush sleve eliminator for it. you could have a machine shop make one and use shims for the D30.
offroader461 Posted March 20, 2007 Author Posted March 20, 2007 awesome thats the last componet i needed to install my gears....should be going in this weekend
