Zenobian_84
Going to re-do the door panels for the 2nd time (sometime in the very near future) and was looking for some inspiration. Here's what I'm starting with; Going back to the original speaker size up front (5 1/4) and matching 4x6's for the back. Don't know if the PO has butchered the wiring for the rear speakers, but I wouldn't be surprised if he had... :thwak: Depending on how well the Gorilla glue worked on holding the top "mounting plate" to the re-made door vinyl panel is going to determine whether or not I keep the "Old Man Pants" blue trim. I'm just going to assume that the material is probably going to be non-recoverable. - - - Seeing as how I'll have to remove most of the interior pieces to install the rear speakers, I figure I could color them differently to get a different look out of the truck. I was thinking about possibly doing a "Tan" or "Black" color; but I really do like the OMP color. It just screams "AMC". 8) Anyone got any suggestions on a new color scheme? I could always re-paint the dash, I suppose; I do have to fix some buggered up things behind it soon anyway. :dunno: AMC Blue is a hard color to mix and match with. A shame I don't have plain black or something.
neohic
What you've got is unique. I only wish I had a truck that would match the personality of a blue or red interior! Yes, there's just something so stunning about the ever elusive black interior, and I'll even admit that I'll be putting a black interior into one of my trucks soon enough, but that blue...

Not to mention I've only run across 1 other Jeep with the OMP colored interior (88 Cherokee Laredo?) Just throwing around options right now. If I can successfully remove the faux-leather from the backing board, I'll probably continue along with the blue interior. Where did you get your dash pad? I'm needing one... Lucked out at the P&P and found one (along with the glove box door pad, which I don't use) in an 86 Cherokee Pioneer. Seems to be mostly an AMC-era item; I have yet to run across any Chrysler XJ with a dash pad.
87MJTIM
Where did you get the panel boards? The ones on mine are suffering from water damage. Probably from a leaking side vent window.
Guest
Where did you get the panel boards? The ones on mine are suffering from water damage. Probably from a leaking side vent window. Used the original backing board as a reference; went to Home Depot and picked up a 1/8" hardwood board to use as replacement. Layed the old on the new and drilled the correct size holes / cut out the right size board. Done right, this setup should last a long time.
