Whats up fellow Jeepers. :waving:

My name is Lawrence and I'm a Jeepaholic.

I've had quite a few Jeeps over that last 10 years but, I just got my first MJ. I've always wanted one, just never found one I wanted to buy. Well I found this beauty via a deal with a friend. He call me and said there was on he found for $500 and he would put up $100 cuz he wants the tailgate for his XJ (one of my old Jeeps) a few horrible pics later we went and got it.

You will notice it still has its tailgate intact. Once I seen how clean it was there was no way in hell I was gonna let him take it to hack up. :shake: Needless to say I paid all $500 for it, and it cost me another $100 for a tailgate from a local junk yard to shut him up. So here it is. Pretty clean, no rust, dents, or scratches. Everything works.... well almost. Needs a fuel sender which turns out is hard as hell to find. Any help there would be much appreciated.

Here is the poor sender, I think I'm going to have to flush the whole system.

Holy crap. I'd say you should go wherever you got the tailgate and pull the fuel sender out of that truck. I live in Riverside (in JAX) and have a can of fuel tank sealant that has enough for two tanks. If you choose to coat your original tank PM me and I'll split it with you. Once opened, the can's done and I'd hate to waste it.

Hmmm... maybe over towards Gville somewhere, advertised as no start? Pics showed it all mud?

Wish I had gone to look at it!

I agree, that much varnish in the tank, just replace it, the rest of the lines MIGHT just not be that bad.

Finding a sender can be a bear, DAMHIK. For a couple hundred bucks you can have a new tank and sender/pump, but it won't have a baffle/reservoir.

What are your plans?

Welcome to the group. Pump you can get anywhere... Pump only. The sender has to be found used. Put a wanted ad in the classifieds, and one of the lucky non rust belters will find one for ya.

Missed that... In that case, you should able to find a truck that someone junked because it looks like they may have ran out of gas on the way out of the dealer lot and they gave up trying to figure out how to pop open the fuel door without a tab or release. Grab the sender out of that.

At least, it seems that way in some of the pics you non rust belters post of the JY finds.

Excuse my jealousy. The trucks you guys have in the JY out west and south look better than the ones on the road up here.

Yea man, that's the one. Was up for $1100 then $799 i think..

As as far as what I'm doing now I'm really not sure. I haven't even though about a tank and sender package.. I found a company online that a few other Comanche guys recommended. This company claims that they can rebuild any sender unit. I sent some pictures and information on mine and they say they can't rebuild it with a lifetime warranty for 149. I work at an semi dealership so I was thinking about taking the tank out and taking it to work and putting it on our tank flush machine. I'm not sure that its up to the task of handling that much gunk but it might. I can also give it a hot bath.

The future of this pick up truck is very uncertain. When I first got it I thought myself that it was way too clean to take wheeling. Now my mind is starting to change a little. As much as I'd love to see it returned to factory condition it's just not that much fun that way.

I already have a complete 4.0 swap, as well as the rest of that 99 XJ.. Maybe front and interior swap. I really don't know. It's so beautiful it's hard to molest.

Cool it was the same one. I read the ad a number of times and thought "thats a long way to go if it isn't something I can use".

Now I wish I had. Story of my life.

For a couple hundred, new tank,sender/pump, at your door, that is the way I'd go.

BTW they aren't mine, just ebay stuff, and what I did.

Damn that is a straight truck! Even the bumper!

Yea its pretty nice, I'm very stoked to have it. What did you search on Ebay? I tried every form of tank or sender I could think of. I'm just not finding anything.

Hey thanks man! Where in FL do you live?

Smack dab in the middle of Lake County (where a whole lot of nothing goes on, lol) Maybe our paths will cross one of these days. Unlikely, but you never know!
