Someone please help me! For those about to suggest the "search", I have, in every fourm, with no success. Please direct me to help on getting into "Shoutbox" and how to navigate.

Shoutbox isn't a search tool, it's more like a chat room. You enter something, click shout, and everyone sees it. Mostly it's used if you have a quick question needing a simple answer. The full thing is on the "shoutbox" tab and there's a smaller version above the main forum page.

The search bar is in the upper right hand corner of every page, under where your username is.

Not sure I understand your issue?

i used the search option trying to understand what "Shoutbox" is. I can't find an explanation. Are the posts just random? Or is there more to the posts?

it's a chat room thing. Use it for whatever you want. Most of the stuff up there right now is pretty random, but there was a discussion about gears earlier. People have used it to complain about weather, whatever. It's useful if you've got a quick and easy question that doesn't really need a thread to itself (not that anyone would mind if you started one) or you need an answer ten minutes ago. Or just need to rant briefly about something.

There's no real set of rules to it. If you've got something you want to say, go ahead.

Thanks guys. I get the chat aspect. What I don't understand is actual functions. Clicking on a topic renders no response. How do I navigate to the associated topic? I've discovered that by hovering the curser over the author I can select content. I suppose that might be helpful. :hmm: It has nothing to do with the topic, just kinda like their history.

The shoutbox is not a reference tool. It doesn't automatically link to threads on what's being discussed...

It's just a chat system, that's it.

Bob: It's a chat room

Jim: Oh, it's a chat room, I get it.

Frank: My sister bought a TJ

Cecil: I had a TJ once

Bob: What's the difference

Jim: What with a TJ

Bob: No, between a chat room and the forum

Jim: You can't click on someones's sentence and find an entire thread

Cecil: What about the TJ

Bill: It's raining here

Cecil: In the chat room?

Bill: No, in Tallahassie........

Frank: she got the TJ for 3K...good deal!!

and so on...if you want to read threads go to the Pub, or Tech, or Builds...several FORUMS. The shout box (as in "shout out") is cool-ese for "chat room"

That's how many people are viewing it. If you go back to the forum and it pops up a 1, that's just you, and it'll go away when you go to another page.

Finally get it . I'm on the wrong side of the "digital divide". It's difficult for old people like me to keep up with social media.
