opsled
I have just relisted my 86 diesel. Some schlep from Hoffman Estates IL was the high bidder but won't even return messages. I have no idea what his problem is and would not even consider trying to force him to buy this thing but apparantly he mom won't let him have it or ????? A simple message or phone call stating he changed his mind or whatever would suffice but I get nothing.... Maybe he is not the keeper of his own balls or maybe he has none. Dono,,, (lol) As you can probaly tell I'm a but miffed with this guy (understatement). I don't care about the sale so much or anything else but do get tired of those who hide behind the cloak of anonymity the net provides. Tiring to say the least. Anywho, I'll get over it and have relisted it. Starts tonight at 7:30 ish central. I had many calls on this thing and answered many questions. Turned some guys away with the truth as I didn't think it was a good candidate for what they wanted to use it for. One guy wanted to use the power train for a RatRod??, one wanted to convert a late model Cherokee as a DD but I told him he would be better off with a late model diesel for that job and after explaining why he agreed. I think it's best use would be a resto project because of it's rarity. The easiest way to do it would be to use a rustfree donor body in my opinion. The cab/frame could be repaired as it's structually sound but I would think it would be easier to replace the whole thing time wise. If you are good with body work you may have a different opinion. It does run and drive but needs a load of TLC to be roadworthy so it must be towed or hauled. I'll let it go to the first guy here with $1500 or I'll let the auction run it's course and see what happens. Reserve is $1450. I had a complete extra (new) engine for it that I never installed. The pump and injectors went on Robs truck and the head was sold to go on a 2.1 Cherokee. The vacume pump off of it is on this truck. The rest of the shortblock (oil pan to deck) is here and will be sold seperately. I have an extra starter and some other misc things too. Thanks for the space. If you have any questions my # is in the listing. Phil (opsled)

Alexia
If my finances were not tied up I would certainly drop the cash for it to keep around as the next project. A complete restoration to keep the factory body and VIN is really tempting.
HOrnbrod
Why didn't you report the schlep (I like that) for non-payment / no response to Ebay? You can do that seven days after the auction ends. That way you don't get charged listing fees on automotive listings, and you won't use up one of your annual quota for free listings You also have the "second chance" option to offer to the next lower bidder. JeepcoMJ
We did. Unfortunately, ebay no longer allows the seller to leave a negative feedback. Their "buyer protection" is "seller screwing" We've had many issues in the last few weeks with people pressing the bid button and not being able to put their money where their mouth is. Plainly stated in the ad that it should be towed home, that the brakes are not good. He wanted to drive it home, then we never heard from him again once we told him that that was not an acceptable idea, as IL and WI are insurance required states, and that if he wanted to take the risk, he may, but it must be paid for and titled in his name prior to doing it. Insurance liabilities and whatnot.
HOrnbrod
Yep, plenty of asshats on Ebay. But there are good ones out there too. Better luck this time.

Yup there are but as you say most are top notch or close. We sell a lot of stuff on ebay and rarely have issues. The last couple of weeks has been a pain though. Close to $2500 in non responsive winning bidders???? Weird..... I don't care what the issue is and will let anyone out that can't complete the sale and wouldn't hold it against them but at least let me know. A simple FU I don't want your junk anymore would suffice. (lol) I guess Dorknobs are all around us all the time. Odds are you will see more than one sometimes. No biggy, It will have a new home. opsled

jimoshel
Distance! ! Why can't something like this show up closer to home? I'd be on it like flies on a fresh baked apple pie.
neohic
Distance! ! Why can't something like this show up closer to home? I'd be on it like flies on a fresh baked apple pie. Sorry, Jim. I know that this one sold a while ago now. I want to say that the guy who bought it used the drivetrain to swap into a Wrangler.
