Biotex Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 What would be involved to add one? I'm assuming the wires are already there? I understand I would have to add the switch also, but what about the mounting on the cab?
AMCJeepMJ Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 The wires are there up in the corner, coming off the left pillar above the interior light. Perhaps someone will post a diagram image?
Biotex Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 I saw the wires when I replaced those pillar lights, but just wondering what kind of cutting is involved, or is it just a couple of screw holes and one for the wires?
fiatslug87 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Just the holes you mentioned. Someone, I think JeepcoMJ, posted a how to sometime back.
neohic Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 http://comancheclub.com/topic/24323-cargo-light/ The cargo light wiring is already run in all of our trucks. We just need to get the switch for the light and the light itself. There is a pink wire that runs up along the drivers side B-Pillar to the roof of the cab, on that wire there is a connector for the cargo light. The light itself grounds through the steel body of the truck by using the same screws that hold the light on. To install the light you need to tap into the wires run for the switch by the steering column and install your own switch. The light can be installed in the cab (I bet you could get another light from some other truck in a yard to work too) by drilling a hold in the cab to let the pink wire through and then drilling the holes to attach the light to the cab. ... I just centered mine with a quick measurement and drilled it.
