CallmeMaybe
What is the stock amp for the alternator? Autoparts stores say 61-100ish. They believe I have a 61amp but will the 100amp fit? It has a bigger casing. 1988 4.0L 4x4
flint54
Not sure about the 100 amp, but I can tell you with certainty that the 136 amp from a 99 WJ will require minor trimming to make fit.

cruiser54
It's a CS-130 Delco alternator. Local generator/starter shops can boost them up for you , too. Don't forget the crappy and small cables your Jeep has. Many times addressing that makes a huge difference. www.kelleyswip.com
1987Comanche
Non A/C, non HD cooling trucks got the 61 Amp, 4 3/4" case alternator. Adding either of these options gets you the 5 1/4" case alternator (105 amp I believe). The larger case alternator is a direct swap for the smaller one and it's cheaper too! You will, however, likely confuse the people at the parts store...

When I bought my truck (no AC, no auxiliary fan or pigtail for one) it had the larger alternator and I would like to think it was original because the bolts all had then 21 years of corrosion. Every single one broke off before it let loose.
