huck731
I'm back from the dead!!!!!! so since I've been laid off since apr 5th and have started a part tiem job at oreilly auto (F*#@ ya) I jsut got really ambitous and am goign to start rust repair this week. after that thefrotn end is going to get fixed immedietly followed by lowering the entire truck 2". those are the hard, in-stone plans. soft plans are to do that paint the tailight mod and to fix the rear brake prob valve. also a new idea, a buddy picked up a 91 xj with an xj and a half of parts. that includes one spare 4.0l that needs a gasket kit to run right, we are thinking 4.2l stroker. but don't hold me to that as it's his spare motor and I still dd this truck. huck731
PROGRESS!!!. well, more like random spur of the moment deal due to being bored at work (maybe 6 total customers between 4 and 10 on monday) and my awsome discount.
huck731
and now because I got bord at 10 last night and oen of my friends just happened to have blue spray paint with him, I did a test run of this to see how it would look.
huck731
I know that blue doesnt look the best around the edges and stuff, but it'll come off in a few days or when I remove it. If I actually do that it will be plasti-dipped and look alot cleaner.
huck731
resurections part 2. I've been trying to sell the truck for about 2-3 months now with no luck. after a guy looked and it and bailed on me I decided to just keep the darned ol' thing. I finally got a bench seat from hayduke (thanks man) and I love the truck 20 times more than I did with the bucket seats. first things first though, I found out I have a prety rusted out front leaf spring perch so that will get fixed ASAP. second thing, me and my friends have been thinking to much and they want to put a chevy 350 with either a tremec 5-speed or a th400 behind it. I like this idea (once I finally get another car) but it seems pretty far fetched and rediculous to me (but very fun when finished). either way, I think I'm going to take things slow on the mini jeep now and just focus on rust repair as of now. huck731
I finally got some new pics. I replaced the valve cover gasket over the weekend and decided to paint a few things grabber green. I'll post them up after I replace a valve cover bolt I just snapped.
huck731
OK folks, I know I'm terrible at posting pictures, but how about a project update instead. I have recently decided to go with a tremec 5 speed for he build. This decision was made after I realized the way price difference. I think the tremec will fit very nicely behind a built ls1 (aiming for 550 - 600 HP). The trans should be in my posetio soon as they can be had for as low as $100 on craigslist and junk yards have hundreds of them.

HOrnbrod
What is that place? An abandoned cheese factory? Just curious. Looks like a good place to take pics.
huck731
It is the back of an old fIre safety company, now its a storage facility and kennel club. The other background is a local steel salvage yard.
Minuit
Nice build, but do know that you have quite a rust repair job ahead of you! What are the last 6 digits of your VIN? (serial number) I wonder how far apart our trucks were on the assembly line
huck731
oh ya I know about the rust. I've been trying to find another car so I can afford to take the truck off the streets for start on rust repair, but it seems like everytime I get the money for a car I have to spend it on something else that suddenly comes up. huck731
I came up with a short list of things I should do to my truck to better prepare it for the winter, feel free to make any more suggestions remove rattle-can bed liner and do dupli-color roll on bed armor winter wipers (most likely trico chill blades) install freeze-plug coolant heater change trans/rear end fluid coolant flush replace weather stripping on doors when I do the bed armor I will be going all out and wire wheeling the entire bed so I can clean any and all rust out along giving it an optimal bonding surface. Minuit
Seems fairly well planned out to me. How cold does it normally get up there?
GHayduke
You decided to keep the Manche? Nice! Hopefully you can use some the the like new parts I traded you!
huck731
depends on the winter, I'd say average of 20's but as low as -10 on a really cold day or even more with a wind chill. GHayduke, I loved that bench seat since I put it in that night. I'me sure I'll use that starter some day. she's always "for sale" just not always advertised, the guy that looked at the right after I got those parts flaked out on me and nobody at the car show/ swap meet even wanted it. GHayduke
nice, Bench seat: I usually add foam & something under it (like a old mudflap or floor mat, then use large zip ties to rebuild the seat bottom & back. you can then tighten the zip ties to adjust it to you liking....
