I've got a 3 inch rough country lift on mine with Rough Country Nitro 9000 Shocks. it's an add-a-leaf kit but those shocks make it ride hella smooth. it's real nice i like those. 87manche
you will need new lowers. Uppers are optional at that height, but beware of your pinion angle and caster. You might end up OK, you might now, so don't be surprised if you need new uppers. If it's street only you could redrill the axle side bracket for the trackbar to center the axle, but it will bind at that height if you flex the suspension. New trackbar recommended. JOMJ87
If i were you I would put in some 1" spacers up front and cut the fenders or remove the flares and make it look nice and stock looking with a trim and roll of the metal. But thats just me. You can run 31s with no lift but you can't stuff to well and with around 1-1.5" you should be able to do it with stock parts. you should be able to go 2-.25 maybe a tad more with just sway bar extensions, adj lower arms, And maybe a drop pitman arm is what i think you should be able to get away with. Maybe someone will provide more that i missed. Cole
Pete M
No pitman arm is needed or recommended. It'll throw off the relationship between the drag link and track bar.
feerocknok
I got the cheapy Skyjacker Hydros on my truck. They're perfect for the front of the truck, but too stiff for the rear. ~$30 a piece. If I did it again, I'd run the Skyjacker's in the front and Anything else in the rear.
Pete M
As a general rule of thumb, the more you spend on a shock, the better it will be. And money spent here is money well spent. The same goes for oil filters.

Pete M
Lift springs aren't always all that accurate. With 3.5" coils you could get 4.5 out of them or only 3.

Pete M
There's all sorts of variability to deal with. First there's the variability in the new coils themselves. Frequently they will be slightly higher than advertised and then settle over a short time (hopefully to the proper height). Then there's variation in Jeep weight. The engine, bumper, etc all affect the ride height. Then there's variability in our trucks rear springs. There's the 2wd/4wd leaf difference or even the amount of sagging that occurs over 20 years which can range from nothing to severe. Reusing these leafs (either in SOA or with an AAL) and expecting them to perfectly match a front that's using brand new coils can be an exercise in frustration. And lastly there's personal preference. Some guys like the bed to be perfectly level when empty, others like a slight rake so when it loaded up with gear it won't look like its butt is sagging. I personally would use the manufacturers numbers only as a guide and have a plan for altering the front or back up to an inch rather than trying to match them down to a 1/2" before I even put the truck on stands. carnuck
If you get the 3" ZJ front coils, it'll lift the MJ a bit more. Conversely 6" TJ front coils dropped to 5" on my MJ.
