wthayer
hello, i just bought a 98 cherokee and I'm wondering if 31x10.50x15 on 15x7 stock rims would fit with a 2 inch lift? i know its not a comanche but you guys have been a big help too me so far. thanks
Eagle
They'll fit with no lift, if you're on stock Jeep rims. However, with OR without the lift, at full steering lock (when you turn the wheel all the way left or right) they are going to rub on the lower control arms. This condition is not helped by a lift. DirtyComanche
But, with a 2" lift and some lower BS rims, it won't rub the LCAs. Of course, then you need longer bumpstops or you'll hammer your fenders. Or just cut the fenders... I run 31x10.5s on my DD cherokee on a 2"~ budget lift. 87manche
or you can shim the steering stops, you'll lose a small amount of turning radius. http://stu-offroad.com/steering/stop/steerstop-1.htm
JeepcoMJ
hello, i just bought a 98 cherokee and I'm wondering if 31x10.50x15 on 15x7 stock rims would fit with a 2 inch lift? i know its not a comanche but you guys have been a big help too me so far. thanks don't go that wide on 15x7 rims. they will curve too far outward then and will wear faster. good rule of thumb for 10.50 tires is 8"wide rims to 10" wide. jeep had factory ones like that. I say this from experience. I've got 31x10.50 Dayton Timberline A/T's on 8" wide rims for my 86 comanche and at 17k miles on them they look like new. my brother has the same tires on his 88 comanche with 22k miles on them, but 7 " rims and they wore funny cause of the curve on the riding surface that was brought on by the narrower rim. he has to buy new ones when he starts driving again. Beads'll pop off easier on an 8" rim with only 10.5s, so it kinda depends on the trucks usage.

You need to chalk the tires to get the proper footprint. It sounds like he was running too much pressure, so he wore the center of the tread. I run 10.5's on the stock rims for road tires. I run 30 PSI front, and 28 rear when unloaded. I ran 45 PSI in the rears on the trip to MO because there was 1200 lbs of weight in the bed. carnuck
I'm running 33/9.50s on my stock rims. Before these, I has ZJ alloys with 255/85/16s (33.5/10/16) on with my SOA, but they clipped the fender liner on hard corners.
