mjeff87 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Alright....I didn't think it would be next to impossible to find replacement center pins for the new leafpacks I got. Where can I get some??? I tried Advance, NAPA, a couple local parts houses, did some internet shopping, and I can't find 'em anywhere. What gives? I know I can use allen head bolts, but I'd rather have the OEM hardened pins just for peace of mind. Anyone have a spare set (2 1/2") or know where I can get them? Can't reuse the old ones because I removed them via sawzall (they were rusted) Thanks, Jeff
mjeff87 Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 NVM, found a set at RE for $8.00....unless anyone has an unused set you want to get rid of :D Jeff
carnuck Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Sounds like your NAPA is lame. I have them in my store (Bellevue, WA)
mjeff87 Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 they looked at me like I had two heads when I asked them for a set. Even brought the remains of one of them with me and showed them what it was I needed.
Tracker Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 The Dorman fastener selection at the better auto parts stores has them. They are Allen head, but grade 8 with fine threads. $1.79 each too.
Pete M Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I too used allen-head grade 8 bolts from the hardware store.
CWLONGSHOT Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 As long as the head is the correct 5/16" or 3/8" size, the Grade 8 bolt is perfectly acceptable. BTW, I have bought the correct pins in the "HELP" section at many parts stores. CW
fiscus Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 My NAPA/Advance/Auto Zone didn't have them either. I went to another local parts store & they had them though in varying lengths. A parts store like Smithe, Savage, etc should have them. (The stores that do machining, turning, etc) Get a long one to line up the leaves & cut off the excess once it's snugged down.
pingpong Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I used some grade 20 allen heads from work lats time I needed centering bolts. Itsd great working in a Papermill.... all the hardware is beefy as hell
mjeff87 Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 Why buy something when you're neighbor works with a bunch of machinists.... :D He got his buddies to turn down and thread some case hardened, and created these for me: :brows: Image Not Found
