jimoshel
I sort of 'inheireted a 14 ft boat and trailer the other day. I've played around with sail boats but know absolutely nil about motorboats. Is a Johnson RJE 35HP motor a 2 cycle or a 4 cycle? Do I have to mix oil with the gas? Anybody want to buy a boat, aluminum, motor an trailer? How is 'inheireted' spelled? :dunno:
HOrnbrod
Who manufactured the boat Jim? If it's an old Alumacraft the serial number will be stamped on the transom. Alumacraft models from the 60s and 70s can be quite valuable.
jimoshel
Searched it from end to end, Bow to stern? and nothing useful. The chrome plastic "Lone Star" and the Max loading tag was all i could find. The trailer has no VIN or manufacture tag on it either. Just a decal identifying it as Sears. I believe the boat and motor is from the fifties. The trailer a little later. HOrnbrod
Not an Alumacraft unfortunately. Their 16' runabout from the 60s with the bow deck can sell for $2K-$3K depending on condition. I sold an open 16' 1964 Alumacraft last year (much more common) for $1200. Found it in a field. :D Image Not Found Runabout
camjeep3
if its that old I would def say its a 2cycle. my 78 evinrude was a 50:1 mixture
FrankTheDog
Definitely late 50's early 60's. It has the fins on the back just like the Cadillacs.
danbyrambler
Arghh, Matey - She looks to be a Lone Star MALIBU (Portuguese for Titanic) CK out http://bigfinboats.com/forums/index.php ... lers-1959/ & scroll down to near the trailer section - could also be the less expensive Coronado :D
jimoshel
Yep. The Malibu. Wish it looked that good now. Probably some hard applied elbow grease and it would. It was parked since 1989-90 under a leaf-sap dripping tree without a cover. I thought about just running it out to the dump but took it home and cleaned the crap out of it instead. At least the aluminum isn't corroded. although all the wood flooring, seating and cloth was totally rotted out. So I reckon I'll fix it, sell it. Do something with it. It belonged to my life long buddy. He died last year and the widow gave me the boat a couple weeks ago for helping her clean up. (Translation) She couldn't find anybody that wanted it and hoped I would be to polite to say no.
mpace6a
If you decide to sell it let me know! Dad and my brother have been wanting one for a while now, and your only 2 states over...I'm sure they wouldnt mind the drive!
jimoshel
Got a fella coming out this AM to take a look at it. He's got a wrecked '96 XJ. 4.0, 5sp, 4wd. We're talking even swap. If he don't take it, it's yours.
