MJRemi
Is it possible to swap a 97+ door window into a MJ if I eliminate the wing window? I want to keep the manual window mechanism but like the cleaner looks of the one-piece glass. I know I can swap the entire door but was curious to how difficult the glass swap would be. 86customanche
I'm not sure if the glass is the same size but I know from experience that getting the glass out of the MJ doors is a PITA. The easiest way would be to break it all and clean the mess. I would guess that the glass does fit though.
Jeep Driver
I've considered the same and will swap entire door.......not worth the hassle.
lilnapsak
You can find 97+ doors with manual doors, they were pretty rare, most came on base models and fleet vehicles. I swapped my electric door parts for manual recently in my cherokee, took me 3 years to find them
dave92cherokee
I haven't checked so don't quote me on it but I believe that the minting point for the glass is different. The normal doors have the square windows towards the back keeping the mechanics towards the back. The newer models have the one piece glass which would allow the mechanics to be in the middle of the door.
cherokee
Yes you can. I have swapped a 97+ power window into a 96- door frame. The mounting holes for the regulator are different, and you will need some washers here and there to get the spacing right. I think I needed a track from the new doors as well. Here's a couple pics. Internals. Finished.
MJRemi
Thanks for the pics. Are there any unwanted surprises besides the ones you mentioned ?
cherokee
Not that I can think of, but it's been 2 years or more since I did this. You'll need some of the trim from the new doors too.

I have manual locks/windows, and the damn thing came with an idiot light cluster. Which, until I bought it, didn't know was even possible in the 97+.
