Id like to do this, as I despise the kick-pedal. (If I can get the console ebrake to work, my full and working racheting ebrake assembly will go for sale)

anyone done this swap, whats needed? I'm using an '88 XJ console, has ebrake handle and everything.

First, of course, you'll need bucket seats.

Second, I believe you'll need to extend the length of the rod from the brake handle to the "splitter" where the two rear cables attach. I don't remember if you'll also have to modify the bracket that the rod passes through ahead of the splitter.

well the buckets are a given, I'm doing the entire swap. Could I not use the splitter under the cab off an XJ on my MJ? Does the handle use the slide-in cable or a rod that runs back? I haven't had a chance to look.

My plan is to run an XJ hand brake, but have it attach to the back of the second t/case cv joint.....

But thats as far as my project has taken me.. the thought of what I'm going to do...

I'm still trying to figure out how to fit two t/cases under the cab!!!

I gathered the stuff to do this but never aquired a console.

I came up with 2 types of mechanisms. From the looks of it, it would be an easy fab job. Just extend the metal rod to the splitter (I'm assuming your're calling the piece that the rear cables hook to is the splitter)

Advance sells a e-brake cable repair kit that is plent long to prefor this function, or you could go to a parts supplier, and ask them to find e-brake cables close to the length you would need. I would look at full size rigs, with manuals that had a center e-brake

what I was planning on doing was making a custom slip in bracket for the cable that would run from the footpedal to the equalizer (thats what its called haha)

I may extend the rod, I'm getting the assembly today and going to do some 'positive experiments with it.
