DirtyComanche
I have duals. They were in the front before. Lots of clearance problems.
feerocknok
Isn't the airbox where the 2nd battery would go? Ran an isolator on my GMC just like that. Was real simple, worked great, not really much to em. Not sure on the alt.
Regger
Theres a link and write up somewhere on the net that shows how to do a somewaht factory dual battery setup... It uses the battery tray from an Austrailan RHD XJ. Everything bolts right up.. And yes you do have to remove the airbox and replace it with a cone or something like that... I just say it a few days ago, but can't seem to find it now... The other option is to run dual batteries in the back of the box in a Tool box of sorts... Oizarod115
yeah, there was a high and low output alternator, the high is 90 or 105 or something like that, and the low is like 60 IIRC what's the benefit of a second battery? just extra insurance? Mitch
never seen anyone need a second battery.... Lots of guys in the club run winches with no problems. Not sure I would ever spend the cash and time doing a second battery when all you need one GOOD battery.
feerocknok
It is good insurance too. I used to fry my red tops all the time cause of my crappy charging system, so a back-up walmart battery was always nice to have. With the isolator, the back-up battery always stays charged, so you don't have to worry about it going bad like you would have to on a back-up that you were just storing. Also, they're nice for campers, which I suppose is the main reason I had mine.
HOrnbrod
i plan on running dual batteries but i wanted to see if this would work in an mj, also how do i find out the out put of my alternator According to my handy MJ parts manual, stock alternators are as follows: 4 cylinder: 74A 6 cylinder: 100A V6: 78A Diesel: 70A I found a NOS 93-97 Denso G. Cherokee 120A alternator (from a Jeep delearship) on Ebay for $29. Same size as my 90A. Swapped the front pulley and the plastic tailpiece and it bolted right in. Good upgrade............
