ilovemybike
Thanks, I'm pretty excited for the detail work, but there are bigger projects. Started on the LED housings.
Dirteatr717
I'd let the springs settle before you make any changes, when i did my SOA the rear was first at like 9" of lift and after driving with some weight in the back it settled to about 6"
ilovemybike
Finally some progress. Picked up a blown up LS1 from motorhed and swapped the intake and accessories onto my LM7, then lobbed the hot mess into the 'manche bay. The power steering lines even bolted right up. They look a bit pretzel so I'll be modifying them. Manifolds fit. I guess I'll cancel my order for a four inch cowl hood. Damn pro street lifted Jeeps are in too. :bacon: :yay:

HKB3
What are the exhaust manifolds from? I did not read through the thread, what trans and x-case are you using? I have been considering this swap for a long time. I have a line on a 5.3/4L60e(4wd) for $1500 with all accessories, harness/ecu, and a warranty. ilovemybike
I'm using an AX15 with a Novak adapter to a Chevy bellhousing. I'm using truck manifolds that I cut and welded. They weld really nice actually. I tried some other manifolds, but these looked like the best fit. Maybe the new cast Hooker manifolds would fit, but I'm cheap. Thanks for the comments guys. ilovemybike
Made up the second tail light housing yesterday, it's amazing how much time these little suckers can take. Damn them. I'll throw it in the oven sometime this coming week. I took a sawzall to the radiator support of the Comanche so I could fit a Cherokee grill and radiator on it. I have two stock fans as well and I think that's about it for cooling. If it overheats I guess I'll add more fan, or pull some plug wires. Look at all that room!! All normal looking, I want to put another S15 grill on this thing but the Jeep die hards are such haters. Organic prop rod in full effect. The intake seems to not quite fit. :yay: For clearance and fresh air reasons, I think I'm going to run the intake backwards into the HVAC/cowl area. It means more work so why not? Damn you tail light.
ilovemybike
I decided that the next order of business was to figure out a transmission crossmember, so I grabbed the slip yoke eliminated t-case out of my XJ and tried to put it up to the AX15. Then I remembered something, they changed the input spline count from my XJ trans, BA10, to the AX. Damn. Then this happened. I had a broken NP231 lying around which happened to have the larger input, so I did a speedy-dry swap and put the newer style planetary in my old case. Happily it fit. Now I have to decide how I want to support the trans and t-case. I'll take some photos tomorrow and post them up in hopes that someone will have a better idea than the weird ones floating around in my head. :wrench:
Exxon Valdez Jeep
got any room for the AC compressor on there? I'm keeping an eye out for a car accessory setup...

ilovemybike
Excuse the grossness everywhere. Note the passenger exhaust is down to the framerail. Crossmember ideas, GO!
ilovemybike
Did a bit of work this week on the poor bastard. Bit of a crossmember. Pig nose. Pig.... bacon! Mmmmmmm.... Tied the mounted plates into the lower control arm mounts which are through bolted with sleeves through the unibody rails. Even a blind squirrel.... Dimples! That doesn't stand out does it? Painted my new fuel tank in some paint over rust chassis goop, seems rugged. Mounted that hot mess with new straps. Radiator and electric fans all mounted up. Painted the booster and swapped in the clutch master. Lightening. Interesting.... Mounting posts for radiator. That's how it its.
Exxon Valdez Jeep
You using the stock mj fuel pump for now? And what are you going to do with the gauges? I'm still debating a stock cluster or aftermarket, all comes down to $$$$$ I guess
ilovemybike
You using the stock mj fuel pump for now? And what are you going to do with the gauges? I'm still debating a stock cluster or aftermarket, all comes down to $$$$$ I guess I'm using a 4.0 HO pump from an XJ, we'll see how that works out. I honestly think the 4.0 sucks down more fuel than the LS motors, shouldn't be a problem. My RX7's stock NA 160HP rotary fuel pump is still in my car, no problems. I'm not sure if I'm going to swap a cluster in, I have a base cluster, no tach just a speedo, fuel and temp. The speedo won't work because I'm running an electronic VSS so the ECU will be happy, but I can have it tuned to run basically any speedo head, I am running an Acura Integra speedo head in my car, it's 1000 pulses per mile, if I remember correctly. Honestly all I really care about is fuel and engine coolant temp. I won't be speeding and if the oil pressure is low I'm not going to be doing much about it, haha. Exxon Valdez Jeep
sweet, my MJ came with that fuel pump from the factory! The one guy I've talked in person with an LS in his XJ started out with the factory pump and it died, then he switched to some inline pump he picked up at a parts store. Now get it running and I'll be right behind you! I've got a big ol pile of parts and no garage currently.
ilovemybike
I'm working on it! I guess I should run fuel lines and whatnot, I'm using a Corvette FPR/Filter.

ilovemybike
Thanks! I ran a fuel line, bent up some 3/8" line with vice grips and a hammer. :yay: You can see the other end poking up by the intake. Made a wee hole for the throttle body. Ordered up an elbow and some connectors . I plan on welding a piece of 3.5" to the new firewall section that I make and using that as a bulkhead for the intake. Bouncing a flash in a red cab makes for an interesting whitebalance, all the more reason to paint it white.
