What a nice black Friday:

Well, I'm not one for the black Friday shopping unless its a smoking deal I can't pass up. This year was pretty dry on the deals, so I decided to pass. The local LKQ was having their own black Friday weekend, and offered half off of everything they have. It usually gets pretty nuts during these sales, so I didn't plan on grabbing much, just checking to see if there was anything worth the time. Loaded up the roommate, and hit the yard early. First Chrysler row we went down had an '87 Cherokee. BING! Black interior, in good shape. After a little time, we had it out and loaded on the cart. Chris learned some stuff about the XJ as we were sacrificing it, and pulling everything seats-forward. We chatted with some Jeep guys, and had some laughs pulling everything out. Someone had already went through it, and grabbed all the door armrests, the drivers seat, and seat belt. The rest was ours. Tons of little trim buttons, handles, and all sorts of good stuff.

Worst spot of the dash. Someone who didn't know how to get the headlight switch out just destroyed it. With a little epoxy, I should be able to fix the structure, and with a little messing around, I should be able to lessen the damage to the skin. Idiots.

Carpet was actually in pretty good shape, and I couldn't leave it behind. Little simple green and a trip to the car wash should have it right as rain.

Had the upgraded door panels with the hockey sticks and map pockets. It's a shame that someone who was trying to get at the drivers mirror ripped the edge. Should be repairable with a vinyl repair kit.

The one seat:

A lot of stuff was broken, including the center console insert. I didn't grab it. The back of the outside trim and the lid were broken off... Again, with some creative epoxy, you won't even notice the trim, and the lid should just screw right back on with a new hinge.

Little upgrade for the Diesel. This one has FM!

All in all a good haul, especially considering the price, $66 for all of it. Everything got better when we stopped at the Tilted Kilt for some Burgers and beer though. Good trip.

I hit the Black Fri 1/2 off sale at LKQ too! Only difference was that my local LKQ is in Greenville, SC. The XJs were pretty picked over (no MJs) but I grabbed a ton of GM pass car stuff (sensors, coil packs, interior parts, etc). Spent $200 so it would actually have been $400. It was a good day :)

wow! all I got was a pair of running shoes for half off.

:rotf: Yea, running shoes. That really sucks. :clapping:

Rob,

Excellent find. I can't stop looking. Are those factory floor mats? They look like they are in better shape than the carpet. I would have pulled that crap if I ran across it. I see that you got a set of nice door panels with the carpet/map pockets and hocky stick arm rests. Quick question for you. Those came with chrome trim rings behind the arm rests which you pulled. Did that XJ have the smaller chrome trim behind the handle part of the armrest? Mine had those door panels from the factory but I thought they had both pieces of chrome trim at one time. I wonder the smaller chrome piece was lost at the body shop. I picked up a new set at a JY a couple of weeks ago.

can't remember if mine had it or not. Old age. :shake:

Sadly, the arm rests were already gone. I can't say for sure if they had the smaller little chrome backer under the one end, but I know it had one under the main part. When looking at the imprint on the door, it doesn't look like it had the second piece. Aren't your door panels the matched fabric ones?

No, mine are black vinyl with the map pockets, hockey stick armrests and carpeted bottoms. They were stock. I think they look exactly like yours but black doesnt photograph very well (no offense to your photography skills :brows: ).

Good find though. It would have been a shame to waste that stuff.
