newbs Posted January 9, 2007 Share Posted January 9, 2007 How much lift is needed to run 35's on a comanche? Does anyone make a lift to be able to do that or do I have to just put one together? pingpong Posted January 9, 2007 Share Posted January 9, 2007 I had to cut mine a lil tooo. :smart: but keep in mind not all tires are the advertised hieght. so try and tell us what brand of tires you are going to use, then we might have a better idea of what you might need to do. newbs Posted January 9, 2007 Author Share Posted January 9, 2007 35x12.5 Pro Comp Mud Terrain, this thing also does not need to be street legal since it will be off road only. Normally I would never use these tires but I am swapping someone some 33 mtr's for them. I know I will need to do a soa but what springs and from were? For the front I would like to keep it all srpings without useing spacers if possible. Also I have a dana 35 right now but only untill I finish my ford 9, wich by the way does anyone know who makes a decent soa kit that that I can put on the axle. JOMJ87 Posted January 9, 2007 Share Posted January 9, 2007 Buy the perches from the dodge dealership they are beefy the stock springs can be used and the brake lines can be extended. that should be all you need for the rear I might have missed something but you don't need a kit. the front just buy the pieces you need to match the rear lift since everyone gets diff lift with SOA. pingpong Posted January 10, 2007 Share Posted January 10, 2007 soa in the rear is as simple as welding on some spring perches. You wil have to set your pinion angle correctly, but thats not too hard. You might run into some problems with the way the shocks are mounted, but I t can be solved with some tinkering. For the front. You are looking at alot of work to make it work right. Either Drop brackets or long arms so you can position your front axle in the center of the wheel opening. don't forget about a adjustable trac bar. 88MJay Posted January 11, 2007 Share Posted January 11, 2007 With 35's there is no way you can get them in there without a little trimming no matter how much lift you run. Well.... I suppose you could run 10" of lift and lower your bumpstops by a foot or so. lol Seriously though... around 6" and some minor trimming should get you there without hacking away a ton. JOMJ87 Posted January 11, 2007 Share Posted January 11, 2007 I just made a bastard pack out of leaves I had laying around that were a tiny bit more arch. I don't remember what they came from. I trimmed alot in the front cause of flex issues but I flex mine until the springs almost bind.(hopefully I will brake one and can use that to buy some new ones with a little more length) ;) I have a spare froma broke set a XJ had I bought for parts. Anyway If its Trail only just do a real nice trim on it and don't put flares back on they just get ripped off on the trail anyway. I have seen guys roll the sheet metal around the place they cut and it look like it came stock like that. Just a thought on your project. Oizarod115 Posted January 11, 2007 Share Posted January 11, 2007 auto parts stores carry rubber tubing stuff that you can buy thats DIRT CHEAP and use that to cover the bare edge of the cut... looks factory if you cut it in a decent pattern and not a big circle. my brothers is done like this, he had problems with the bare metal cutting into his meats while flexed, problem solved. it looks just like a little black lip around the edge. real clean. Southen Crawlin Posted January 11, 2007 Share Posted January 11, 2007 to run 35's on lift alone id say 8in. but 6in with TJ flare conversion will work just as well if not a tad better due to the lower cog. i currently have my 34's still on with 8in lift and at full flex i have bout 1/2 an in till the tires rub. so 35's with correct bump stops installed should work out great. Weld new perches onto the axle I am building up(lol I can't weld) but do some sort of soa on my current dana35 until I finsih my 9" maybe rockroad bolt on soa.
