FrankTheDog Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I just picked up a headliner for my 92. The headliner is out of a 91. My question is what came mounted between the visors? I have a hole that measures about 1" wide by about 3" long that's centered on the two mounting holes that on a cherokee would mount the security reciever. Any ideas?
FrankTheDog Posted August 3, 2011 Author Posted August 3, 2011 Maybe an over head console? Brandon No, there are no marks for a full console. They usually have a large hole where they were. Even the security sensor leaves a 3" x 5" hole. Maybe a PO put it in there for his own reasons. I'll just make an aluminum cover for the hole for now.

nitroxsteve Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 There should be a plastic piece that holds the end of the sun visors. I think there are two different visors short and long. My 88 has the same hole.
Gjeep Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 You have a Renix-era headliner in your hands. The sun visors in that era (86-89) were very different than the 90-92 years. They were longer and mounted in the middle/ front of the headliner on a rectangular plate that covered the dimensional hole you are talking about.
AMCJeepMJ Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Here's pics of my 86's headliner. See if it matches what you have. The pleasant side: The dark underbelly:
FrankTheDog Posted August 3, 2011 Author Posted August 3, 2011 That's the hole. The marks weren't there though for that piece. Also it had the holes for the short visors. Maybe somebody took that liner out of an earlier one and Put it into the 91? We'll never know. Thanks for the responses and pictures.
