mparsons Posted January 4, 2007 Share Posted January 4, 2007 Good morning, I am considering using Rusty's Off Road 2 1/2 inch (new coils, add-a-leaf, and shocks) lift to raise my Eliminator for 31 inch tires. Anybody out there have any experience/opinions on their stuff? How hard is it to install? JOMJ87 Posted January 4, 2007 Share Posted January 4, 2007 You will get good and bad opinions on there stuff but recently everyone seems to be pleased unlike before. Some guys will never ever run there stuff again but others love it. My opinion on the lift would be insure the AAL is full length and expect to have a stiffer ride from it being installed. If you are only running 31s and don't care to trim you will not require a lift with a fender trimming done. If you plan on going bigger later save the money and do it sooner than later. don't waste your money on something you only are going to have temporary. Just my 2cents others may disagree. 500 MJ Posted January 4, 2007 Share Posted January 4, 2007 I have their 4" spring packs in the rear of my MJ and I had to take out the bottom leaf because I had way over 4" of lift. I guess that over time they would have settled but now with only running the 4 leafs I can flex like crazy. Plus I still sit a little higher than I want in the rear. I also am running the shocks they offer on all four corners and have had no problems with them. the full packs work AWESOME but add-a-leafs are a completely different animal... usually pretty rough ride, but some like that from a truck. and as for install... i think if you managed to convert a 2wd-4wd you can handle it... you'll need to rent a coil spring compressor (aka strut spring compressor) you can get them at any autozone for 40 bucks then return it for your money back as long as its not broken. and you may wanna buy new bolts for the leaf springs, and new u-bolts for the rear axle if it doesnt come iwht them Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have the cherokee I took the front drive parts off of and wonder, in the interest of cheapness, if a leaf off it would raise my comanche sufficiently. I want to run 31s with minimal or no rubbing. pingpong Posted January 11, 2007 Share Posted January 11, 2007 For 31's no lift is needed in the rear. No the main leaf from an XJ will not net you any lift. If you want to do something like that you need to use a spring from a vehicle that came Spring under. Such as a S-10 or dodge Dakota.
