Kenosha Warrior Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 my idiot brother and his friends are playing hockey in my driveway. The MJ is not moveable at the moment as its got no serpentine, alty, battery. Its got no ebrake so Ive got it sitting in reverse (AX-4 tranny) since I can't drive it out of the d-way. they want me to push it out, when I refused, they started pushing on the front, trying to roll it down the driveway. how much damage of possible could that do to my tranny?
Oizarod115 Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 they actually moved it!? hm... must have pushed it hard. don't think to much? ive parked mine in 1st on a slope once and it slipped backwards ( i was still in it waiting to see if it held) and it didnt do anything but reverse and 1st are much different... idk

Rev is the only gear that will hold it. It was rocking about 4-5" back and forth when they pushed it. thing that makes me a little scared is that I'm on a sloped driveway at almost a 30 deg. slope. it was moving 6" in reverse and then back to its original position. christ I hate my brother and his friends. no respect for anyone else's property, they've taken out my mirrors, tail lights, dented the hell out of my pass. quarter panel, I can't have anything nice on my MJ because they yank it off, dent it, ect. They even took the window outta my dad's van when he first got it.

jeepthing07 Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 my comanche rolls easy when parked on a hill in any gear. my 2.5 don't have enough compression to make it hold lol
sinnaevd Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 smack him around a little bit all brothers fight n e ways rite? lol i would imagine there would be some play allowed, hoe much, i have no idea. i know all vehicles i have been in roll a little bit when in gear, just not much.
Kenosha Warrior Posted January 2, 2007 Author Posted January 2, 2007 ....why is your brothers' nose not crooked yet? he plays hockey, and its all his little 8 and 9th grader friends. I get them back pretty nicely though, I'm head of the AV dept at school, we create all the movies and stuff for the school wide assemblies. nothing like a video of the school hockey team skating a practice in speedo's with David Hasselhoff's body. thats my payback. screw the physical stuff, mental is much more fun. Ill youtube it when I get my hands on my copy of it.
DirtyComanche Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 It won't hurt it. The only reason it moves is the cylanders are leaking down. I just about had mine roll into a lake once, parked it and left it in 1st facing uphill, didn't think it'd roll and got out and started walking away and heard the crunching of it running over twigs on its way towards the water...

I'm doing piston rings, lower crank bearings and such in the summer so it should cure that.
feerocknok Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Yeah, just sounds like you don't have a-billion:1 compression. Happened to me when I started driving stick and figured 4th would hold the truck...
Pete M Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Too bad you don't have low range. 1st/Low holds my truck better than the brakes. :D It's especially useful on steep hills and when I want to jump out and snap a picture. If the tires don't slide, the truck stays put.
