tbrand
Not if you run 40's on the front and 48's on the back. http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2011/06/16/hemmings-find-of-the-day-quagmire/
Incommando
As long as the final drive ratio ( tire height x gear ratio) matches you can run different height of tires. If the axles ratios are the same front to rear, the tire sizes had better match. But if you do the math so that "X" tire height with "X" axle ratio equals "Y" tire height with "Y" axle ratio you are good to go. :wrench:
mvusse
A large number of 4wd farm tractors use different size tires front and rear, with axle ratios to match the tires.

Pete M
it was in fourwheeler's top truck challenge back in 1998. man was it ever impressive! didn't win, but they ran out of time in the tank trap (lost a lot of time in the canyon being a big truck) and decided to finish the course anyway, just for fun. :D
