d44 front swap question

hi is there a d44 front swap out axle that will work with the stock np231 T-case? meaning if there is what vehicle will i find one in?

Someone with more info will chime in but IIRC...

 

TJ Rubicon front is the only near direct swap but really isn't a true D44 to purists....

 

Most use HP D44's from Fords but they are wider and present mounting problems to keep the coils straight. The lug patterns are different too. Wagoneer fronts are also used but are low pinion and have a different lug pattern as well.

yes lots of drivers side drop D44s, but thats not the questions you should be asking......the 231 has very little to do with what front axle you choose.

i have a chevy 44 in mine. lots of effort to make it work.

ok let me re-phrase, i want to put a front axle in my MJ that has locking hubs , is close to the factory width, and will line up properly with my transfer case, does this axle exist, in any form? whether its a d44 or any other comprable axle?

That would probably be the waggy LP 44 but you will have to convert it to coil suspension.

 

The kits kinda spendy but you can put locking hubs on your D30

yea i just can't see spending that kinda cash. what doe LP stand for ? sorry for my lack of knowlege.

Or if you went with the waggy 44 you could convert your mj to leafs up front

I found an older TJ Dynatrac HP 44 by watching CL in all the nearby major cities, a bolt in affair.
