91coMANche
It did but you'll need new perches welded on for use in an MJ. Also he has the axle upside down in that picture :D

91coMANche
Good luck. I burned up my 35 bearings...actually the previous owner burned my Dana 35 up and so I replaced it this week with a 44. A good upgrade.
Sir Sam
did the 89 xj ever come with a dana 44? i don't think it did but i found a guy claiming its a d44 outta that year. this is the only pic Supposedly the 87-89 could all come with the Dana 44. This is what gets reported around the internet all the time. In practice I think everybody only ever sees them in 87 XJs(myself included). But supposedly they could come in 88s and 89s as well. I keep looking, sometimes I find an 88 or an 89 missing the rear end, so maybe those had the 44 before someone pulled it, but if I ever find another 44 in an 88 or 89 I'll believe it myself. cody4359
its already off the truck along with a brand new winch bumper. axle $200 bumper $400, going to take a pic of the diff cover to make sure its the 44 and offer 500 for both. either way the few xj 44's ive seen are always asking 500-600 for them

Motion Offroad
87-89 with factory installed tow-package often had them. Our '89 (with factory tow option) had a D44 from the factory.

The shortbed was introduced in '87 and from then on you could get either SB or LB combined with any of the available options (4x4, trim lines, etc). I think though the "Big Ton"/"Metric Tonne" and towing packages were only offered in the LB platform, but I could be mistaken.
Eagle
The Metric Tonne package was available only on the longbed. Not sure, but I think a tow package was available on the shortbed. And I think the Eliminator was available only as a SWB.

And I think the Eliminator was available only as a SWB. As it turns out they were available in a longbed in the H.O. Years. We actually gave a member who had a '91 lwb eliminator. For the metric ton, they were only available in lwb, though the d44 could be ordered in the towing package, or custom. And I sense some sarcasm in 64 cheyenne's post. Rob L.
