whowey
Before anyone flames about it.. Yes, I know Fluke meters are probably better than I would need. But unfortunately, I have been Obama'ed out of being able to afford Cadillac tools. I need to get a new general purpose multi-meter. I need it to do automotive, home and some hobbyist types of functions. Instead of getting another HF $1.99(which worked fantastic for my use till it got wet), I wanted to get something a little nicer. I used to have an Actron with teflon cables and a crap load of features, but it got fried when I lent it out to someone. I found this one that will do everything I need it to.. http://www.amazon.com/Equus-3310-Hands- ... roduct_top Anyone have it?? hate it, love it?? Edit... Found another that might better fit what I need. http://www.amazon.com/Actron-CP7677-Aut ... 161&sr=1-6 Edit #2... sorry Mods.. I wasn't paying attention to which forum I posted this.. jeepcoma
Check out eevblog, some great info there (not just the reviews, but the comments too are generally chock full of tidbits and experience). $50 shootout http://www.eevblog.com/2010/06/04/eevbl ... -shootout/ buying guide http://www.eevblog.com/2010/04/14/eevbl ... ing-guide/ I think he did a low-buck comparison too at somepoint, just search the multimeter tag. I've been burned a time or two and don't trust anyone to honestly sell precision electronics.
mnkyboy
I've known guys who have gotten decent deals on high end meters at pawn shops,at least then you can check it out. One nice thing with Fluke meters is they can be sent in for repair or recalibration.

whowey
I ended up ordering the Actron one. The tachometer feature is what swayed me in the end. I need to do some tuning on the FSJ this spring and that is alot easier than digging out the old hand tachometer my dad gave me and fudging with it. I had some Amazon gift certificates, so total cost to me....FREE! :clapping:
