MJ w/ Commander front end??

my uncles mj with a 2000 xj conversion 4.7 stroker and commander headlights. It's easy to modify the header panel, just have to do some cutting on the bottom so it could fit perfect.

I'm bringing this back up because I'm very interested in doing this to my other Comanche. Looking at buying new light assys on Amazon and they come with the wrap around side light attached to the main light assy. Does that just get cut off or am I looking at the wrong parts?

I don't know about that one in particular, but I do know that for my '00 Dakota, the headlight and marker light assemblies can come separate or combined in a single unit (factory was separate).

I recall seeing a how-to somewhere and they just cut it off.

 

The later liberties look like they have the same style headlights, no? just have a full round light at the bottom.

Look at the back of the assembly that will be a better indicator of where it can come apart.

I have a commander headlight as a spare somewhere but can’t remember how it goes together. I was more worried about breaking g a tab.

I'm tearing into my 88 Comanche right now and already got the Commander headlights and looking to do this mod.

 

Anyone who may have done this before; what are you doing for turn signals? I'm open to hearing what your solutions were.

 

I'm thinking of using the triangle motorcycle turn signals (probably the easiest but smallest solution, saw it on youtube), cutting into the bumper and fitting some in there (have a steel tube bumper), adding light pods behind the grill.
