Comanche_Fanatic
haha yeah, a 318 and 360 are pretty similar motors, so either one is great. i want the 360 just for the raw torque :) ive only got one pic so far lol, and the build hasnt started, patience :chillin:

I'm gonna take the damn fuel tank out and see what i can find. i think the pump is the wrong kind.
matt72991
yes pics r preferred LOL. I'd rather a 360 also. mybuddy did a stock rebuild with a mild cam in his 85 Dodge ram and she screams. and That's in a 6000 lbs full size.in a Comanche u could really $#!& And git. Comanche_Fanatic
wish i can take pics as well, remember its a wish list and i havent gotten the supplies yet :) I'm gonna get my 2.5 running again, it does sound great, and when I get the cash and supplies ill start building. i gotta consider everything for the full package. like stock leafs and springs aint gonna support a 5.9L lol. i can't imagine the raw power and speed of a 5.9L on a 2000lb Jeep

matt72991
the 5.9 is lighter than the 4.0??? how much lighter?
Comanche_Fanatic
the 5.9L could be a aluminum block(i think), while the 4.0 is cast iron. same principle with Hemis :D
Pete M
nah, it's a big chunk o' cast iron. there's really nothing fancy or hi tech about a 360. :D I wanna say a 4.0 weighs in at around 350 and the 5.9 at 550 lbs. could be wrong though. Comanche_Fanatic
could be that. i tried finding out if it was aluminum or cast iron, nothing came up. i know the 4.0L is iron tho.
shelbyluvv
A 4.0 weighs about 515 lbs, A "LA" 360 weighs right at 500, Of course options on the engines change the weight a few pounds here and there.
Comanche_Fanatic
okay, i guess the 4.0 is heavier :)
matt72991
yeah I'm really kicking myself in the a** today. last night i went to pick up a transmission and transfer case for my dads 96 1/2 ton dodge. i needed only the t case but he sold me both for 150. so i took them both. they only had 100xxx miles. but i took my buddys mini van cuz the jeep needs a lil work before i drove it that far. and he told me he would have sold me his 96 318 for 50 bucks. if i would have taken a pickup............ :wall:
