87Chief
I was doing my gauge cluster swap when... my speedometer cable came up with the cluster... I pulled it all the way out and I found that it has a square end to it... I can't get this thing out from behind the speedometer itself... Any help? Akula69
It should just pull out...but if it simply refuses to budge you could try a very small amount of PB blaster. Think about spraying the PB into a small cup and then using a toothpick to drip it onto the connection.
mjeff87
there's two little plastic "tangs" on either side of that white plastic connector there.....squeeze them and the white piece will disengage from the back of the speedo. Jeff
87Chief
Ok, and what do I do about the cable that came out? Just fiddle with it until I feel it go back in? If you know what I mean... haha sorry
ComancheKid45
sorry to say but i believe the cable is snapped off. it shouldnt have pulled out of the dash like that :hmm:
87Chief
But it's not snapped... I pulled it all out of the hose thing and there is still a square end like the one that goes to the cluster and nothing broken off of the other side.. 87Chief
The speedometer works but the rpm doesn't... All of the gushes were the sAme as my other one. They all went to the same levels so do I need to buy new oil pressure and all?
dfreeman616
so you had idiot lights, now you have gauges, correct? the sending units are different for oil pressure and coolant temp, so you'll need different ones. as for the rpm not working, you either have a connection loose on the back of the cluster, or the tach is bad, or a wire problem from the ecm to the gauge. 87Chief
Ok, so I will still need the oil and coolant sensors then? And also, could I just pull another rpm gauge from another cluster and see if that helps?
