project Old Rusty (new panel welded in)

Recommended Posts

well,

I'm just waiting for my next pay day to come so i can start to do some autobody,

i plan on removing the bed, and set up an autobody booth in my garage,

so I'm starting to get things ready bit by bit until then,

decided to start with the tail gate

look at that, shes a beaut

then the surface rust on the front, inside felt clean

going to sand that down, get it prepped for paint, going to get rid of the little rust on the back, and leave it as is because I'm going to throw bed liner on.

the liner looks like it was factory too,

and if I'm reading correctly that says j60, so if i understand that right, mj's are j60 truck s jamminz.gif

will update when i have more intersting things to update with :P

don't get your hopes too high for those locks, Everywhere I looked had generic locks that supposedly fits the Comanche, they looked just like that picture, they didnt come close to fitting properly, hopefully those will fit, if they do let me know, because I have a padlock on my truck, it was the only option I had because the guys at the junkyard were being dicks and wouldn't let me have the key Oh weel, I hope it works for you. progress looks great

I'm not liking this telephone tag :(

but i got rid of most of the rust on the tailgate today,

and shot rust paint on it for now,

and i removed the bed liner :???:

wasnt too suprised to see what the bed actually looked like because of the rest of the truck...

shes damn sexy, mint condition minus missing paint due to years of rubbing from the bed liner,

just gotta wash er all up and put some roll on bedliner in

started gettin ready for the bed resto,

removed the roll bar for easier application of bed liner,

getting a battery charger from some one so i can move the truck into my neighbors yard and remove the bed,

plans are to remove the sheet metal, de-rust the insides, and weld it back on :D

only had to cut the wheel well bolts, so it came out alot better than i thought it would

tailgate on

more to come when i remove the bed :D

i can tell this truck has done alot of wheeling, 2-3 inches of dirt everywhere on the frame

no pics,

busy wrenchin :wrench:

snapped all the bolts from the frame to the box,

snapped 1 out of 2 of the bolts from the spare tire carrier (will prob get rid of that thing completly)

and then got all 3 of the e-brake bolts out

will work on removing the gas tank tomorrow before work,

so the bed is almost out

***EDITS***

got to work on it again this morning,

dropped the gas tank, found 4 more bolts from the frame i had to remove,

i disconnected all the wiring, and removed the exhaust from the hangar,

didn't even snap a bolt today, think i can even salvage my gas tank straps

found a major dent in the frame, i think its from the exhaust because nothing else is damaged where it is at,

I'm ready to take the bed off and start working on it,

will update pics once i got everything set up.

as always more to come

tons of wacks from a hammer, wd40, and lots of more hitting and swearing,

tons of cleaning, i got the clips free,

re-key'ed it to my old keys

lookin good, not sure if you were still looking for a parts cherokee, but this is in kamloops http://princegeorge.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-1993-Jeep-Grand-Cherokee-limited-SUV-W0QQAdIdZ261778530 might be able to get an axle outa it lol if it wasnt so far away i woulda bought it just for the farm and have a roll over contest.

That axle will be a LP30 with CV joints. It is a piece of junk.

what size is that box? I want just one 10" sub back there but can't figure out the size the box needs to be lol I have never built one either

Brandon

that box is way too big,

i bought a box online,

turns out the i knew the guy who was selling it :rotf:

its 40" L 8" W 13" H

i will take pics of it tomorrow

it is fairly simple to build a box, get the sub you want, go online and find the proper cubic feet need for the box,

from there its simple, just do the math on the dimensions to get the proper space needed,

ive built a few, but i don't have the money tools or even the supplies to make one,

to make it even simpler

check this out http://www.ajdesigner.com/speaker/index.php

more pics truck, this is how i have the gas tank strapped down

how i am able to drive it, connect a wire to the ground of the tank, and bolt here.

to my surprise there is a frame under all that crap

almost finished all the grinding :jump: i just need my sheet metal now, then will sand, bondo, prime and paint a bit.

oh... and i also salvaged my gas tank straps :chillin: :shake:

going to thru some rust converter and make those babies hard as rock.

more to come :wrench:

wired in my subs,

threw in one of my audio decks, since the touch screen one split my low/mid/high bass into 3 diff settings o_O can't have that now can we?

(you don't want that because it will eliminate the other 2 and only put out, the high mid or low, not all 3)

no pics
