For the most part pretty much everything swaps withing the year generations. Front axles are interchangeable, including the 2wd beam axles. 2wd used the same suspension, which makes 4wd swaps very easy. Engines and Transmissions are the same. Rear suspension is completely different. Rear axles are the same, except that the spring perches are in different spots.

If you have questions about the interchangeability of anything specific, don't hesitate to ask.

Welcome. Here are some good reference materials for you:

RENIX Fuel Injection manual http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/PDFs/Jeep_Renix_Fuel_Injection_manual.pdf

'88 Electrical Manual, similar but not identical to '89 http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12734&hilit=electrical

Body: pre '97 4-door Cherokees are the same from the front doors forward, except the floor. Front header panel is different for 91-96 than pre 91

Drivetrain: pre-91 all engine components and instrument clusters are the same, in '91 the HO was introduced with electronic speedo, different intake & exhaust manifolds with Chrysler electronics.

A lot of stuff will swap even between pre and post '91. If you have specific questions, just ask.

And don't forget to add your MJ to the registry http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=33
