JohnQ
I tried painting my tail lights tonight with night shade spray paint. What a mistake. They look good in a blurry picture! Is there an easy way to strip off the paint? I have a like new passenger side tail light, now I just need to find a decent driver side replacement. 87Warrior
Try a removing agent, then wet sand with 2000 grit paper. Buff with fine rubbing compound. Then polish with one of those headlight restoration kits. I used this to restore a light I have, less the paint remover. Takes a long time, but looks good in the end. shelbyluvv
oh try goo gone! :) DO NOT USE GOO GONE! It will melt your tail lights. You need something safe for plastic. Goo Gone is not it.

Darren
Spray some brake clean on a rag then wipe the taillights clean. Works on plastic headlights too. They'll look like new.
mrsinister
I just did this to a pair of ill painted wheels. Brake cleaner worked pretty well. But then i tried gasket remover... holy hell, ate the paint right off in seconds and didnt damage the chrome underneath
