M1A1TankerTom Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 went to my local junkyard today and they just got an 88 MJ in. One thing that caught my eye is it has bucket seats (as where my truck has a bench). Was thinking about grabbing them but the seats themselves are crap (ripped to hell, headrest bent, drivers side won't fold down forward, etc). So I am wondering is it worth it to grab the brackets off the bottom of the seats? Guy said he would sell me the lower bracket assemblies for 20 bucks. I am kinda thinking if I grab the brackets I could mount them to some cheap racing style seats or maybe some seats from an XJ. What you guys think?
88pioneer Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 definitely get them, you can get 2 or 4 door XJ buckets, and swap them onto the brackets. Its not a very hard process. 2 door buckets are more desirable because they tilt forward  viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8093
HOrnbrod Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 GRAB THEM! They are more rare than rocking horse poop. They will bolt right on the any XJ buckets up to 1993.
Pete M Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 your bench has the same floor brackets (but only half the slider). so if you're going to snag them, make certain the sliders are attached.
hokie83 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Yet another question: I have MJ bucket brackets... the straight kind. I have the opportunity to pick up some XJ 2-door buckets (1989) in really good condition. However, they appear to be the rounded "rocker" kind. I don't have the rails from them, just the seats. Will they bolt up to my brackets?
