Will a full size spare fit...

Recommended Posts

JUST Curious,

Are these the ones you have?

You can get a 30X9.5X15's in there I'm not sure how much bigger a tar would fit? I had a 30X9.5 under mine for some time.

BTW, these rims are commonly refered to as 10 spokes. :D

Yep, that's them with center caps...ten spokers...ok so it will fit

I'll go down tomorrow and buy the other one.

Not a bad price either, too bad they don't fit the big Jeep otherwise I'd buy all that the yard had so I can mount snow tires to the steelies.

I carried a 31-10.50R15 in the stock, under-bed location. I think that's the limit for size, and I was a little worried about that much weight on the winch cable but it didn't seem to be a problem. 235/75R15s will be no problem at all.

When I was pulling parts off of mine while taking it apart I went to winch the spare down and the cable broke clean off at the plate that holds the tire up. That was the end of it, my questions were answered when I threw the whole winch assy in the scrap pile at the yard.

Back before I mounted up Pat's old bumper, I had a 235/75 hanging there, with plenty of room for a larger (30-31") to fit if I wanted.

Since then, I cut a bit with the sawzall  .....now I don't think a tire off my garden tractor would fit there :D But it looks to me like the perfect spot for an air tank for my OBA project (we'll see this weekend)

BTW, I have the old tire winch off mine if anyone needs it. Works fine. My spare now rides in the bed :chillin:

I've got those wheels with a 31x10.5 under the bed.

It will fit with no problems, I think I could probably shooehorn a 32 or even 33 under there since i'm a LWB, but like eagle would be concerned with the winch cable giving way.

I second Alex there. I need a new center cap, and wouldn't mind having another one for my spare. If you can spare a center cap name your price with shipping to 44805 and I'll get it to you.

if you don't mind holding onto them for awhile i would take them for sure. i don't know when the next time is that we would be heading out to AZ. we usually go out every spring or summer in the rv. i would have to ask when we are planning on our next trip. if its not anytime soon though i am sure you could sell them pretty easy since most i talk to would like turbines. too bad shipping would be killer i bet.

If you ship some to alex, or he's coming to get one I would like one. If anything, he won't need a center cap for his spare, so if you could grab me a center cap I'd really appreciate it.

I'll pay for shipping and whatecer the cap costs. If they won't sell the cap seperate, just get the wheel, send me the cap and take it back to the yard :)

They had four when I got there...someone picked up two.

I'd like to keep one as the spare and I only found two more center caps.

Alex, I'll give you first shot at them...same price I got 'em $20 each, do you want three of them? I called the semi-local Jeep yard and they have 8 or 9 (according to the gent on the phone) but they want $40 bucks a shot.

Let me know what you want to do.

87manche your in second or I can run up to Branson and pick up what they have if that price is good for you.

are the three you have the chrome ones or the charcoal ones? and are the two center caps the chrome ones or the black ones? since you brought up the semi-jeep yard that reminded me that i never checked out the one not too far from me. might give them a call before i fork over money for shipping. or if anyone wants to trade for some eliminator rims...

Look just like the picture up top, the only black on them is brake dust and the centers are chrome with black Jeep circle. The clear coat is peeling on the outer ridges in some spots, but the "spokes" are bright and shiny.

  • 2 months later...

I don't mean to highjack but it's sorta on the same track.

I run 35's and I know a spare 35 won't fit so I have been thinking of what else I could use that space for.

one idea was a co2 tank underther but i am not sure if that is exactly safe and I was told the tanks have to mounted upright.

the other idea was some type of storage cabinet like those tuffy boxes for the back of wranglers.

anyone got another idea?

i think the thing with the air tanks is not that they HAVE to be upright, but that you need a drain plug at the lowest point of the tank so that whatever gets into it (oil from the oiler, moisture, other crap) will drip out... i know a good bit of juice comes out of my bro's airtank if it hasnt been drained in a while.
