I need to replace all of the leaf spring and shackle bushings on the stock leafs. I plan to use rubber whenever possible, but am aware that finding rubber for the shackles is hard if not impossible. At the front of the leaf spring, I am looking at the Moog Bushing, PN: SB371. In my search I found that these bushings are for a 4x4 while the Moog, PN: SB372 is for a 2wd. This is what I am looking at picking up: Moog Bushing, PN: SB371 But, according to rockauto.com the Moog, PN: SB372 is for the rear of the leaf spring, no variation between 2wd or 4x4. :hmm: What is up here? Eagle Posted November 9, 2009 Share Posted November 9, 2009 NAPA on-line seems to be brain dead. They think an MJ has a rear sway bar, so I won't even try to decipher their listing. Auto Zone shows B371 for the front, and SK7056 for the rear. That's for 4WD - I didn't try it again for 2WD to see if it's the same, but I'm 99.973% certain it is. Advance Auto lists Moog. jimoshel Posted November 10, 2009 Share Posted November 10, 2009 Just knowing the 'Detroit mind' I would guess they all fit both applications. but the bushings for 2WD would be softer for a more quite ride while the 4WD bushings would be harder for a more firm ride. Not a dd, it's for the tril rig XJ. Poly would be better for a DD than trail rig because typical DD driving does not result in flex. When a leaf sprung vehicle flexes, the leaf springs twist around the rubber bushings. Poly bushings in the leaf spring would be like running front control arms that have no flex joint in the arm. The bushings are identical on the 2WD and 4WD models, and all except the Metric Tonne springs have the same main leaves. The larger (anchor) bushing is 2-1/2" O.D., and the smaller (shackle) bushing is 1-3/4" O.D. Poly is a bad choice for the Comanche, as they squeak horribly. The Comanche Club price will be $24.83 for the shackle bushing and $16.22 for the anchor bushing, plus shipping. (Price has nothing to do with size where spring bushings are concerned.)
