Transformers:

Ok I know I'm behind the curve here, but I finally got transformers on DVD from netflix today.

I was expecting much better, seems like the movie was widely accepted, but I didn't think it was all that great. Just kinda meh, I think if I had paid box office prices I would have been pissed off about it.

At this rate is it going to be worth it for me to pay to see #2 in theaters? I had been seeing the previews and thinking it looked pretty good, but now I'm not too sure.

I'm scared about the new GI Joe movie thats soon to come out.... I hope its acting is better then the cartoon, but just as bad@ss as the cartoon.. I want to see it in the theater, but at 8 bucks a pop + your popcorn and slushy I may hold off...

I havent seen any commercials or talk about it on TV, but then again I don't watch much TV..

you guys must smoke some crazy chit out colorado way......

Maybe I just missed the age group it was intended for.

Had I been much younger, under about 13, I would have been impressed by all the cool transforming cars.

Had I been between the ages of 13-18 I would have associated with it as it was supposed to be about people my age, trying to talk to a girl impossible out of my league, and dealing with high school jackass jocks.

Fact of the matter is I get tired of the highschool jock cliche pretty quick, and I never played with transformers as a kid.

Turns out I worked on real cars when I was a kid, guess that means I cannot take joy in the "coolness" of a semi that also turns into a giant battle robot.

I thought the whole movie seemed rushed.. + they killed the big boss and that that shouldn't have happened in this film. Whos going to be the bad guy in the 2nd one?? They killed all the bad guys but one, starscream the F18 jet.

HOW!!!

JK

and JT, seen any trailers? They bring him backup from the ocean. The first was a bit rushed, but with all the other trash getting pushed out, Transformers was one of the only good movies I saw that year.

I saw the trailer in the movies the other day when the wife and I went to see the Hangover. Saw the GI Joe trailer as well and It will probably be OK at the least.

It is a Michael Bay film, what is it going to really have other than good action sequences and great special effects. Acting and plot are secondary to him.

Well to each his own I guess, there was no such thing as transformers when I was a kid and I still enjoyed the movie. I saw it in the theater and even bought it for my "collection".

I didn't know the second one was out!! I'll check out the newest movie next chance I get!!

FWIW, I have a dish/satellite and don't watch "reg" TV channels. Mostly Discovery, Hunting channel, The outdoor channel, History and Speed channel, with a dash of USA and Spike thrown in. :brows: :brows: :D

I agree with Sam.... Even though I was a kid and had a few Transformers, the original movie was quite the let-down. The movie just never seemed to get into a flow.. and the teen girl eye candy was exceptionally weak in the acting department. To me it also seemed like it was in a big rush to get to the ending battle scenes.. that frankly weren't terribly good.

The trailers I've seen for the second one make it seem more the same.. Lousy acting, bad script, a pile of special effects to get to a final battle scene.
