BREEZE1 Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Is there a cam to put in my jeep that will have a slight lope?? Ive looked at all the comp cams and they say smooth idle. That’s all good, but I wish I could hear a jeep with a little lope. Not too much just a tad! Do yall know any body that makes one or have a video of one??
dasbulliwagen Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Try Acellerated Motion cam and lifter kits. I can't remember where I saw them from, but they seemed to have some fairly big cams available, out of Canada IIRC eh? www.amotion.com/amcams.html Call them up and see what they say!
Pete M Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 As I understand it, the loping cams tend not to make good power at low RPMs (where most Jeeps spend their time). I know my 4-0 would blow up long before it hit 8-10k rpms :D

BREEZE1 Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 yeah, it would just be cool to hear one.. i have to rebuild my 4.0 in my 98 xj soon and i was looking around at cams. ill probably go with a comp cam.
jpnjim Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 With a lopey idle, at some point, you're gonna P-off the computer. If you don't go overboard, you can tighten up the lobe centers of a cam (as in 108, or 106 vs 110-112). This increases the overlap, increasing the lope of the cam, while actually beefing up the bottom, to midrange. It beefs up this range, because the total valve timing now happens over a shorter span. This may be counter-intuitive, but tigher lobe centers really does = rougher cam, AND beefier bottom-midrange. http://www.classicinlines.com/lobe_center.asp Only problem is finding how out far the computer will let you go with this.
Geonovast Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 IIRC MOPAR Performance has three cams available for the 4.0.
