clarkerussell
First off, why would someone want an internal slave cylinder? Secondly, was the AX15 made with either an internal or external slave cylinder? If both, what years were external? Lastly, is the NV3550 an internal or external slave design? Thanks in advance. DirtyComanche
The only reason for wanting an internal slave is that the slave can't as easily be damaged by outside factors. However, you've got to pull the tranny to change the slave... The external slaves are desireable because of this. AX-15 were either. Think the change was in 96. Maybe 94. NV3550's are external, IIRC. sinnaevd
my MJ is an 89, 4.0 spd. was the tranny change over in 89? did i get stuck with the goat? it doesn't really matter as i'm switching over to the aw4 n e way, but curious
87manche
the changover was mid year 89. Take a look at the trans itself, if it splits from front to rear it's the goat, if it splits into 3 sections through it's cross section it's an AX-15. Is there anything wrong with your 5 sp? If it's an AX-15 I would be willing to drive and get that. Junk yards around here want $400 for a used trans.

Oizarod115
it depends on if your truck is an 89 MODEL or was BUILT in 89. cause alot of 89s wouldve been built in 88 correct? my 89 definately has the pukegoat.

I don't think so. I think that practice was only really brought in in later years. My 89 was built in 89, has a BA10/5. I forget the exact date. It's not like it matters, it's got parts from so many different vehicles on it.

pingpong
I know everyone is sold on the NV3350, or the nv4500, but has anyone ever considered the NP435... I know it is only a 4spd, but they are cheap, easy to find, and just about indestructible.I know of one guy in the club I belong to is running it behind his 2.5, and he loves it. Just some food for thought
Oizarod115
pingpong, you got any extra information on that tranny? it doesnt matter to me whether i have overdrive or not, as it is i never use 5th even at 60+ cause it makes scary noise.
