When you get a chance, please can you look and tell me how the skyjacker subframe fits with the extra bracing on the MJ frame lower control arm mounts? Does it sqeeze past or did the PO modify things somehow?

Pics would be even better (now that you know how).

Skyjacker is an ok lift but does not work very well for offroad. It tends to bind up a lot! I am personally going to go with the Full Traction long arm kit thats sold for the XJ and Deaver leafs in the back. And when I can afford it some King Shocks.

What I wrote is nothing I read anywhere else. I help my buddy out in his shop and one his customers is sponsored by Skyjacker for the Jeep Speed class in desert racing. He has personally driven for him and he says he doesn't like that supension due to it binding. The drop brackets for the control arms also crack. He has 2 championships under his belt racing his Comanche so I'm more than likely going to belive what he says!

Well now I know to watch for binding- I consider that good info, because now if stuff is going on with the lift and axles and stuff I know binding is one thing to check for early. There is almost nothing you're going to buy without someone voicing an issue or percieved issue with it.

(Oh and what are Deaver leaves? Do you have a URL/more info? Threadjack! burglar.gif)

Of course I bought this lift, used, for my 86 XJ before I knew the 2.8s had a different tranny mount location by 14" or so and if I'd have been buying strictly for the MJ I'd get something that fits no doubt but waddayagonna do?

Anyway here are the pieces-

Upper and Lower control arms and shackles (back) and track bar:

Axle brace (back), various bushings and Pitman drop, sway extensions:

Subframe pieces and tranny cross member(front):

The mount where it goes:

Extra bracing in the MJ (highlighted so you don't have to crawl under to see what I'm talking about):

And like I mentioned this is used so come to think of it this might not be 100% correct parts- I already know I need another bushing/sleeve for the UCAs because there are only 7.

Deaver makes off road suspensions (springs). The web site doesn't list leafs for the Comanche. The shop I go to in Santa Ana, CA will make them for you. Just give them the specs and how high you want to go. If you don't like how they ride then they will adjust them for you. When you go to the website check out their "baja busings." A bit pricey but good for any off road application. Last time I went there I needed "U" bolts for that Skyjacker Cherokee and they made them on the spot for me. jamminz.gif
