88swampedmj
hey guys my sister has been looking for a new car lately..i went with her the other day and as she was lookin at something i noticed a red 01 cherokee..i opened it up and sat in it...iam not too tall so i looked to move the seat a little well this cherokee had power seats that went up down...forward backward and tipped up and down too...i was wondering if i could somehow put one of those seats in my comanche and still have power? Pete M
They don't fit very well, if at all.

CWLONGSHOT
Custom brackets? The trouble is the motors and related linkages that make it work are just too tall to work in the cab of a MJ.......
88swampedmj
well i guess iam gonna just put lots of washers under the seat brackets
CWLONGSHOT
well i guess iam gonna just put lots of washers under the seat brackets I don't mean to tall to fit under the seat.... I mean once its mounted in the truck...watch your head entering and leaving...your GONNA SMACK IT!!! The driving position leavs much to be desired as well. As you sit there you will be looking thru the upper 1/4 of the glass!!! Like I say, IMHO not the most desireable option for MJ seating. Eagle
I can see that I'm going to have to put an XJ bucket and an MJ bucket side-by-side and take a photo. And then flip them over and see what's different that affects the height. In theory, knowing that AMC typically never wasted an opportunity to consolidate parts across model lines, it seems that the seats should be the same seats, so if the XJ seat is too high in an MJ, it's gotta be in the brackets or the pedestals somehow. 88swampedmj
well iam really short haha so i don't think i would have a problem with being to high in the seat.. so is it possible to have a powered 01 xj seat in my manche? would i have to drill other mounting holes? CWLONGSHOT
Eagle, If you could do that it would be GREAT. As I would really like to see the differences!! I too have a set of XJ seats in the MJ. They are the "rocker" style and a bit tall for my liking. CW
jage
well iam really short haha so i don't think i would have a problem with being to high in the seat.. so is it possible to have a powered 01 xj seat in my manche? would i have to drill other mounting holes? I put XJ rocker seats in my manche with the stock bench seat mounts and they were too tall but otherwise fit perfect. I had to grind the rivits and punch out the spot welds. Scroll down this thread for pics: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=242591&highlight=jage It looks like later this summer I will be getting stock manche buckets, if I do and you need my bench brackets by then we can work something out. 88swampedmj
but i was going to do powered xj seats...so it may be a little more difficult.. bc when i was in that cherokee the seat moved way up and if its in my comanche it may not have to move up as far for me to like it but i would still like power seats..or just the drivers seat haha
jage
Yeah my buddy got some nice leather seats of a ZJ. One when in the drivers side of his YJ and the other went in the corner of his barn! It's hard to see in that seat diagram but you're right the XJ power looks like it goes to the floor. Nothing a little cutting and welding can't cure though. feerocknok
I know it's a lil extreme for a normal person to do, but my Grandma has one of those handicap vans that a person in a wheel chair can go up the ramp with and such. In the van, the entire floor has been dropped maybe 6". Don't know if the Comanche's uniframe's in the way, and it'd probably be way more work than it's worth, but there'd be no head room issue like that. pingpong
It has to do with the fact that the MJ floor angles up after the tranny hump area. That is why the XJ seat brackets make the seats sit higher and angle down towards the front. I did some research, when I had a stock XJ, and before I totally went wild on Pong
