6000 pound warn winch

Recommended Posts

Just FYI... the 6000 IS WHAT the FACTORY offered and made that neat little mount for XJ/MJ's.......

A general rule is 2-2.5 times GVWR. When considering you ca get this @ a buck and a half, I would grab it. I may be on the lighter side, but it will work and you can always sell and upgrade down the road.

I would get it. 6000lb is definitely enough for the weight of the MJ providing that you are not trying to pull the entire vehicle up a hill if it's not running, but it will be more than enough for assistance in getting unstuck or up over a rock with the truck running and helping  .

Given an option...I would go for the 8 - 9000lb, but this is a good deal if it is in good working order.

Not sure of the dry weight of a MJ, but to mee an 8000lb winch is barely enough. Figure you rig weighs 3k+/- then add all the junk we keep in them and you are closer to 3.5k so using that figure you need at least 7k winch. Also the fact that it is 12 yrs old, and you really don't know the history :huh???: You don't know if it has been abused(most winches are even if only used a few times). PLus with it being 12 yrs old.. the solenoids would be questionable at best.. and would require a thorough inspection. You can get a warn M8000 for just under 600... It would though make a good trailer winch, or axle winch
