It looks like somebody used a slim-jim on it for a long time. Anyway I am concerned it may allow too much water inside the door. Is there a source for replacement parts of this kind. If you play around on wholesalemopar.com, not everything that shows the item and/or price is available anymore. Usually if it is no longer available when you click on that item, nothing will appear in the window to the right, but sometimes it has not been updated and will even let you order it before you get an email 2 days later saying it is no longer available. Might be worth the 800# phone call instead of ordering online. Also, that sight is simply a site for a dealer and there are several others out there, so it is not some specialty "I've got the last ones" site. However, I think teamcherokee.com is more along those lines. I believe most of their items they have bought out of old inventory from dealers that don't want it on the shelf anymore or went out of business and sold off inventory. Both have been a good source for me on a few things. That being said, our original dealership Parts Specialist BLHTAZ was, unfortunately, recently let go because of the economy, but MJDOA is another parts guy at a Jeep dealership. Maybe PM him first to see if he can do a national search on the wipes. We always try to help our own first here. WahooSteeler Posted November 19, 2008 Share Posted November 19, 2008 Fortunately it's very simple. Roll your window down, pull up on the old seal and it will slide/pop out. They are held in place by 3 metal retaining clips that are pinched to a seam on the window opening of the door. The new ones you can just slide back down in. That's the quick way. IMO take a couple of extra steps, and it really only adds about 5 mins to the job. Remove the door panel first. To do this remove your armrest and your window crank. Take the 3 screws out of your door handle assembly. Pop out all of the plastic push pins that hold the panel to the door. Pop them gently and straight out so they don't break off. You can use a straight screwdriver or even the claw of a hammer. Next, lift up on the panel first while simultaneously sliding it away from the hinges. After you first get it loose a little, push the door handle assembly through the opening in the panel. Now you should be able to lift up and/or slide off the door panel. Take off the inner window wipe so you can inspect your outer retaining clips, plus it gives you more room for your fingers. One of the main reasons I pull the panel etc. is because if you just try to push the new wipe down in to the clips, it is hard to maneuver it with the inner wipe on unless you don't mind jamming the crap out of your fingers. More importantly, if you try to force it in going the simple way above, you might bend out the retaining clip and then it is sloppy and won't have a tight fit, won't wipe as well etc. I pinched my retaining clips in a little so they had a tighter grip and then without the inner wipe in the way I just popped the new one in. So, a lengthy description of what is actually a very simple job, but the extra steps as I said before might add 5 mins to the job just to get your door panel off.
