Whoa what a busy month I have had. but to the point, So i might start building bumper, rockers, and maybe cages for mj,yj and tj's. But I am not sure if i could build enough for people to make it worth my wild. So I am starting just a poll on if you would buy one if it was built to what you wanted?

 

 

If you can draw/dream it up I might be able to make it.

what kind would you be looking for? like a step set up or something like against the body like most yj&tj ones are?

If you have any ideas or stuff you might want to see let me know i am trying to figure out stuff to build. I like drawing up stuff even just to get it as a prototype. I got a billino things on my mind of what people want but just can't think of everything. So give me some ideas. even if its a simple one of something already out that you would like to see differently or even better.

I think to have a kit available to put a cage in a MJ would be great. There are no kits for an interior cage available that I know of. Thats why I went the custom exo cage route. Now I am thinking of adding an interior cage as well :eek: Might be overkill, but I had another scarey experience that bent part of my exo cage so I think it is time for me toi upgrade my cage a lil more :brows:

Could you modify the Rockhard cage for an XJ. Just use the front part?

I suppose I could modify a cage to make it work :dunno: but I would prefer to have a cage designed for a Pick-up, and not a station wagon. :roll: If I was going to make a cage kit work, I would use a s-10 or toyota cage work, as they are cheap, and made by several manufacturer's. :smart: More then likely, If I can't find what I want available commercially(sp) I will have one custom built. My safety is worth more then a few bucks it would cost to have one built. :brows:

I only brought it up because I was thinking of trying it. I have a Rockhard cage in my Rubicon and I am very happy with the quality. The front part should bolt right in.

Does anyone have pictures of any comanches with custom roll cages?

cages aren't usually that hard to build. just takes time, problem is i don't know where to get the bolt on material. If i find the bolt on clamps i could build something of what you want.

I would look seriously at buying some of the stuff, as I am finding out while trying to get into offroading that an MJ offroader was not the best choice for kit availability. But with the help of the guys on here, I am finding out how much fun it is to really shop around and start the fabrication myself, so I'm not really sure what stuff I would buy. I don't know know if that helps you at all, but congrats on having the ambition and courage to try and sell. I would probably buy roll cage kit if it was available, maybe bumpers too.

I am looking for a weld in cage kit. Heck if I could find a kit that was bent properly using the correct material, I would buy it. My specs would be a minimium of 1.75 x.120 Dom, with 3/16 plates. More then likely I will start building my interior cage here soon. I really need the added safety

that is doable. see i was thinkin of the common person that doesnt have a welder. if i find the clamps i may think about making a bolt in cage and a weld in kit. and if i possible made a cage i would prolly use 1.5-2 chromwhatchamacall it but if you want a certain certain metal i will see what i can do. I am working on getting a new bender as we speak, since my last one craped out on me about 4 months ago and was just old in the first place

I can think of two things you could offer- 1. A bolt on exo-cage for the MJ - you could expand it to the XJ later

2. A complete DIY truggy kit. Basically like half a Sniper. Cut here and here, and bammo! Insta truggy.

:thwak: There is no such thing as an Insta-truggy kit :brows: 6 grand later, and I am still refining my design :smart:

 

 

Also exo-cages are best built to the customers preference. :brows: I know a bunch of ppl who say I wouldn't have done my rig the way you did yours :nuts: Especially with the door bars and the windshield supports :nuts:

 

I took a different route when I had my tube work done. :brows: I took a safety first perspective :deal: especially knowing the way I wheel, my rig has to be able to survive a catastrophic roll :eek: Never know how bad it will get and when :chillin:

 

 

Keep in mind.. bolt on kits are only as strong as the fasteners :banana:

Not everyone would build a truggy the same way :roll: That was the point I was trying to make. :mad: Some ppl still want their rig to be "street legal" and play make believe that it is :brows: I chose my safety over street legality :D so I have to wait another couple of yrs till I could put some antique plates on it so I don't have to get it inspected :nuts: :banana:

I would buy a weld in or a bolt in. I just don't have the means to design one myself. Let me know if you come up with either. The rock hard is not cheap.

Well sure, just like not everyone wants the same tube chassis buggy or roll cage, and yet there is a market for Snipers and companies like Poison Spider.

 

I agree with what you're saying, but I still don't think that doesn't make this a candidate for "Future Possible Products".

 

You should move to Indiana. No inspections. You could probably cut a comanche in half and just drive the front half around, cept for the lack of taillights and the metal sparks...

so i found the clamps so i am going to think of a bolt in cageconfiguration and a weld in config. I am working out the detals for the rest of the machine tools tomorrow, so i will let everyone know if i am going to start building all the stuff hopefully tomorrow.

well since my old one pooped out on me i'm awaiting a new one to be droped off so I'm not sure.

 

and I'm still determining what kinda of tubing i am going to use, i am willing to work with someone if they want a certain type. I am a fan of chromoloy for cages since it is stronger but does cost a bit more.
