Drahcir495
My floor  I have the replacement pieces ready to go in, that I cut out of the donor MJ, and they more than cover the damage. I don't know if you can tell from the picture but the inside of the frame has zero rust. The carpet is what caused the floor's sheet metal to rust. Why didn't the PO get the leak fixed :headpop: I can't understand. I drove the jeep 2 hours to get to the paint shop from where I had it parked. The heat from the motor and trans was intense and the Florida heat did not help anything. I packed every piece of carpet I had left over the hole. The bugs were driven out and into my lap also, lol. The passenger side has only a little surface rust wich is great. The jeep runs and drives fantastic. The transmission shift perfectly which almost made me consider keeping the pukegoat. So my project has started, the before shot
Bounty Hunter
Looks like where I cut the rust out of my '88, also cut out above the muffler and one spot forward right in the pass. floorboard. I need to get some pics of my panels welded in, thank goodness for friends with a MIG welder.
mjeff87
That's almost the exact same dimension of floor that was missing from mine, except it ran a little bit further back along the tranny tunnel. The cargo mat padding did mine in as well  I cut a patch panel out of a junkyard MJ as well, of the tranny tunnel area from the firewall forward, above the TC shifter and back to where it bends around in the back. For the flat parts of the floor I used 22 gauge steel sheets from Lowe's. Didn't have access to a welder, so I used a bazillion 1/8" self-tapping sheet metal screws all around the perimeter and gobs of sealant (but it still leaks a bit so I have to rip it all apart again and find the hole  ) Fun times...... pingpong
I say use expanded metal :brows: That way it drains itself :nanner:
Drahcir495
I am glad to know it is not just me. The replies are encouraging, thanks. The paint shop called and said they removed the decals and extra stickers from the truck. I will take pictures when I get back there. - Rich
BIGHEEP
I Figured I would share mine too. Mine was caused when the window came off the track in the down position and the PO never fixed it. :headpop:

Thanks for sharing
BIGHEEP
I cut the floor out of a 96 XJ a friend was parting out and plan to stiched it in. Still have not finished it though. I need gas for the welder. Just a little surface rust.

BIGHEEP
Yeah, it will fix the floor nicely but there was a heck of a lot of spot welds to drill out.
jage
Here's mine in progress: And with some silicone and Herc: You can see where the pass floor was done on the outside of the frame rail. Mine actually started worse than Bounty Hunter's but in almost exactly the same pattern. If it wasn't for the extra metal and the 4wd lever I would have sworn that was my truck. :)[/img]
Bounty Hunter
I need to get a progress pic of mine with the new metal, before I slap on the POR15 and make it all good.
jage
I wish I had before pics. The whole interior was covered with thick black grease/dirt that was just ground into everything. The white stuff is leftover OxyClean paste. Man it was disgusting!
