  1. i understand what else needs to be done in order to have a 6 inch lift, i didn't expect to get some springs and shackles and be done with it. i was just looking for other avenues for the rear end because i can't weld, don't have a welder, don't know anyone that welds, don't have a garage, and probably can't afford to pay someone to do it for me. not to mention what i said earlier about eventually swapping the axle.
  2. i just want to have a 6 inch lift. the 4 is enough for what i do. but i just want to go a little bigger
  3. is there anyone out there using the chevy shackles that could chime in here with info and pics?
  4. i don't have the talent, means or resources to do a SOA, not only that, but i have a D35 with 3:07's, when i do find another axle to swap in, i don't want to have to cut and re-weld the lift on the new one, ya know? so what about the chevy shackles? they are longer? why do some urge against it?
  5. control arms and track bar are stock. i was under the impression that i couldnt get longer shackles in the rear due to how long MJ shackles already are. as for the front i just needed to know if i could put longer springs on and still leave the 4 inch drop brackets on there.
  6. i currently have on my 88 SWB a 4 inch spring under lift. i want to add another 2 inches to my lift without going spring over, what kind of options do i have? my truck sees mostly street usage with mild trails in the mix. the front has the 4 inch drop brackets in it and my next question is to add to that, can i just put in the larger springs with the drop brackets? Erik
  7. So this guy walks into a public restroom to hang a root. Hes goes into a stall and sits down, a few seconds later another man enters the restroom and sits in the stall next to him. After about thirty seconds the first man hears the other say in a low voice"Hey there." The first man feeling a little awkward about the situation in a shy tone replies " uh..hello." so the second man says"So what are you doing?" to which the first man says " I'm uhh..I'm taking care of business, ya know?" then the second man says "So can i come over there?" and the first man says "what?! no man that's just wrong!" the the second man says," Hey, i gotta hang up, there's some idiot in the stall next to me answering all of my questions!
  8. What are the symptoms of a bad torque converter on a 97Zj, 4.0 part time 4x4. whats its doing right now is sometimes when i let off of the gas to slow down, it lurches a little and under acceleration first gear is sluggish, almost like there is low tranny fluid which is not the case. Erik
  9. does that even drive? I'm pretty sure that thing was actually for sale a little while ago, can't remember if it was c-list or ebay. looks like a death trap to me....but i think it did run.
  10. i had to remove a complete bedside to repair the damage from the drunk guy and it really was alot of spot welds but i used this little spot weld drill bit i got from harbor freight and it really didnt take that long to do. but after putting some more thought into it, i guess having them removable really doesnt make a whole lot of sense as opposed to removing them one time to por-15 them then re-welding them on. Erik
  11. life saver
  12. I had that same problem and my fix was(bare with me here because i don't know the name of the part) on the drivers side just between the manifold and the wheel well there is a small whiteish valve with 3 hoses leading to it, one on the left and the right and one on the bottom, on mine the bottom one was melted shut and when i fixed that, it fixed my idle. hope this helps. Erik
  13. the whole thing is spot welded, even along the wheel wells IIRC. I kinda like the idea of being able to take the bed apart like that, if you decide to go through with it i will definatly be following along. Erik
  14. I know I know, its been said 1000 times and i tried to find it but failed obviously. i remember there were a few pics on here of that had pics of all 8 mounting bolts that hold the bed on and i was hoping someone had the link or the pics to help me out, thanks. Erik

  20. You harass people on Jeep forms????? :dunno: :teehee: The money I get from Pete for breaking balls on here isn't quite enough to cover my rent. So while it is a source of income, I wouldn't say it's what I do for a living. Indeed, I thought it was funny. If it seems that my aggression level has dropped, I'll just have to step it up. You're probably right, I haven't recieved a ban warning in quite a while. And everything is going pretty good Rob, thanks for asking. Comanches and Cable, we have so much in common. Can you hook a brother up with a terminator tool? Everything has a price.......
  21. mine doesnt hold at all in reverse, i could engage the brake and actually push my truck backwards with little effort.
  22. awsome! thanks CW, thats a huge relief to me knowing that it can be done. now i just have to aquire said named MJ :brows: Erik
  23. Well, i recently discovered an MJ that could hopefully soon be mine. only problem is that in front of where the rear spring mounrs, there is a bit of cancer so my question is, how hard is it to make repaires to the frame and how sturdy is it likely to turn out? i don't have any pics yet but i hopefully will soon have some to show you the damage.
  24. :ack: I HATED my commander, as soon as the lease was up it was a gonner!
