  1. Well I just gave the new set-up about an hours work out at about 1500 watts RMS. I was able to make my 1400 watt Behringer amp to even activate the clipping protection a couple times. Both units are hot. The sub amp is cooking. I have them idling so they cool off. The fan in the amp does a good job. Everything sounded great so far. Pink Floyds - Wish You Were Here (complete disc), some Nickleback, some Kid Rock ended it with some Stevie Ray Von. It kicks no doubt....
  2. I did take a couple 10/325 Norco's, a couple Valiums, a Flexural and an Amitriptyline. I washed it down with a 32 ounce Brandy slush with a couple extra shots added for the fun factor. I'm happy and smiling. :brows:  Edit: Time for a refill. :D
  3. Lighten up TNT, go grab a happy pill. I KNOW Pete gives excellent advice and I was just yanking his chain. Someone has to do it. EDIT: BTW, I pretty sure I scored a MJ D44 for myself today thanks to Pete and his car-parts.com site. $175, 3.55 ratio, and not too far away. The yard sent me the tag numbers and they cross correctly. He's also sending a pic of the diff cover Monday so I can be abslutely sure before going to pick it up. I know somebody has to yank his chain. Somebody has to yank yours from time to time again too... :rotf: Got ya. Pat's MJ D44 is supposed to have rear discs according to his sig for the last few months. You should ask him about the swap and get pictures to prove it.
  4. Pete broke one, and ever since it's the same never ending song, over and over and over and over. It's getting really tiresome............ Plenty of D44's and 8.8's break too for no obvious reasons too if you care to look around. Use the D35 and see what happens. Might just surprise you w. it's reliability. They are not terrible and/or made of glass as everyone says. For your application it will prolly be fine. Give it a shot, don't listen to the standard old line. :D Getting stuck on the trail behind a broken D35. Now that it is really tiresome............ Listening to the good advice Pete has is not tiresome, it is smart. Your incorrect response and having you whining like a little girl is tiresome too... :fool: Money spent on a 8.8" axle is smart. Just weld the tubes to the housing and add a good truss. Any money spent on a D35 is a waste and it will break. It also bends really easy.
  5. After further reseach think I will be using the Konaki KO12-1207A 12" subwoofer in a custom deigned enclosure. It would be simular to the following picture, but will have some design changes which will improve velocity and it may have a bandpass chamber instead of firing forward and using the port as a horn type port system. It will be mounted so it is firing outward as part og the front sound stage. Image Not Found
  6. My mistake the Konaki sub is rated for 2400 watts of RMS with 5000 watt burps in competition.

Try e-bay for a refurbished reciever with HDMI. a couple of weeks ago a top of the line one sold for 99 cents. Everybody must have overlooked it... It was on my watch list and I was 10 minutes late. They sell for some great prices and have the full waranty.
  8. I think the shop will get the 2 Kicker and 2 Sony subs. It's to nice to trash in the shop. The don't know will get my 2 Cadence Wildbeast subs. I'll either sell it or put it away until I get a nice '93-'95 Buick Roadmaster to put it in. I'll probably just sell it... $220.00 + shipping and it's yours. (I got a great deal on it, it's a $400.00+ sub).
  9. Pluging your ears won't help much. You body will still transmit the sound to your inner ear. :brows:
  10. I have been researching how to build a bass horn style box for it. That would up the output to about 105db at 1 watt at 1 meter and be pefectly tuned for the stereos cross-over. I kinda want to make it down firing into a ported box with the sub mounted just behind the console.
  11. It should move some serious air.
  12. Here is the latest sub I just picked up. It's a Konaki KO12-1207A 12" subwoofer with dual 2 ohm voice coils. It has a 3" voice coil for maximum of speaker travel and has a 300 ounce magnet. It is built for SQL(sound quaitity level) but can also put out wicked amounts of SPL(sound presure level). It produces 88.3db of sound at 1 watt from 1 meter away or 1W/m SPL(db)=88.3 db. It weighs 60.1 pounds. It is rated for 2400 watts constant RMS power at 4 ohms or 1 ohm with 5000 watt burps in SPL competitions. :chillin: (1200 watts RMS per voice coil) Power rating edited to the correct specs. Now do I build a box for it as my shop sub or put it in the MJ??? If I put it in the shop this is the following stereo system I'm setting up. I have a Behringer PA amp that puts out 700 watts into 2 ohms or 1400 watts in mono into 4 ohms to use as my shop bass amp. I will probably be selling the Sony and Cadence Wildbeast 12" 700 watt RMS rated subs. The two have 2 Kicker dual 2 ohm voice coil subs rated at 400 watts RMS each and I the biggest amp is rated for 800 watts of RMs power at 4 ohms or 700 watts in mono at 2 ohms have and 2 Sony 4 ohm subs rated at 380 watts. I could also build individual boxes for each sub so 1 could be located use them in each corner of the shop. I can wire both pairs so they have each 2 ohm of resistance at the amplifier. The Behringer ampilifier will work great powering them since it has 700 watts of power x 2 in stereo. Set up like this provides each pair of matching subs will have its own channel so gain can be adjusted at the amp for the best staging. It will have great sound stage imaging like this because the subs would be in stereo. Then they can be located to help rattling everything on my my full width rear shelf like my present subs do. I have a Yamaha RX-V3000 which is a 650 watt RMS 6.1 surround audio/video system. It has 8 channels which have the following amount of RMS watts of output. There is 100 watts to each front speakers, 100 watts to the front center channel, 100 watts to each rear main speakers, 100 watts to the rear center channel and 25 watts to the front effect channels. It has 61 RCA, 3- 1/8" jacks, 1 RS-232C connector, 7 digital optical hookups, 3 cable antenna 75 ohm connectors, 9 S-video connectors, 20 speaker wire connectors, along with 3 110v outlets on the back and 1 S-video 3 RCA and 1 digital optical hookups on the front. It's insane to see the back of it. It will power 3 pairs front speakers(Polk and Pioneer), 2 front effect Aiwa speakers, 2 front center channel speakers (Polk and BIC America DV52CLR.), 2 pairs of rear speakers(Polk and KLH)and 2 rear KLH center channel speakers, not counting the subs. I also have a Sony 400 disc CD changer for comercial free music. This will still leave me with a pair of subs and this monster Konaki sub I could put in the MJ... What to do... I'm just not sure. The cassette is very cool but I don't own even 1 cassette tape to use with it. I could get one tape just to show how cool it is to my friend but that is about it. The price would have to be really good Check out what you have and we can finish up from here using PM's.

So who is into home /shop audio and what do you have? My shop has a Yamaha RX-870 5.1 dolby reciever which supplys 85 watts to the front and center channels and 25 watts to the rear surround channels. Cd's are handled by a a Sony 400 disc changer. The front speakers Polk, Pioneer and KLH book shelf speakers. The center channel has a B.I.C. speaker and an Aiwi speaker. The rear has 2 pairs of KLH speakers and a pair of Aiwa speakers. Bass is handled by a 75amp 12V power inverter supplying power to a JBL7001 amp which supplys 700 watts to a pair of 12" Sony subs wired at 2 ohms in a 1.5 cu,ft sealed sub box. I have an Onkyo AV Receiver digital/analog 6.1 dolby TX-SR600it has 80 watts RMS x 6 into 8 ohms or 115watts RMS x 6 at 6 ohms. This is going to be my living room system once I find a bunch of good speakers, a HD DVD player and a Blue-Ray disc player. It won't need a CD changer because my computer or the DVD can handle that. I jam to music in the shop, this is for movies and limited music use. So are any of you into home audio? More important is do you have any home stereo stuff you aren't using and want to sell? I need to build one more system thats not as wild, but could be, so let me know what you got.
  18. X 2  :agree:  :chillin:
  19. X2 I basically don't drink, I stopped 21 years ago. I have a drink on the day my stepdad passed. That would be a triple of Wild Turkey 101 and some brandy slush in the summer. Alcohol has taken 5 people out of this world I was close to. I haven't lost any to pot.
  20. I haven't seen it in years.
  21. Is THC the ingredient that makes you so hungry that you'll eat 90% of the contents in a garbage dumpster? If so, I vote no for THC. It will just add to the problem now w. fat, overweight, and lazy youngsters we have now. Not that I've ever done any weed lately, but that used to be one of the measuring sticks for good sheite or bad sheite. I said with a prescription. It should have age restictions and be regulated like strong pain pills are. It could replace drugs that have more side effects and could have a appetite suppressant added to it. It also increases how other drugs like valium work so it could allow me to take less valium. It would also work great for the headaches I get from the two upper cervical disc(C1 &C2) that are degenerated that they won't do surgury on because they are too close to the brain stem. It would also allow me to reduce my prescriptions I take so my liver could have less to process. I'm all for making prescription bud legal to those who would benefit from it due to their medical conditions. :chillin:
  22. The sign over the brothel in Support Your Local Sheriff (1969).
  23. Dexron ONLY ATF+3 or ATF+4 isn't designed to be used in it and will cause problems down the road. Toyota has the best fluid for it.
  24. Screw smoking it. The THC can be extracted and taken orally eliminating almost all the side effects. As for Valium and Amitriptline I take those daily(the 70's rock) along with my pain pills and one other muscle relaxer. Add some THC and I'm almost feel pain free. THC capsules should be made legal to sell as a prescription. It has many worthwhile medical uses.
  25. They are out of stock because they discontinued them.... :shake: I called them and was told they were on sale because they discontinued them my interest in them was gone. Good luck getting warranty replacements now they are all gone... For $500.00 I will buy rebuildable revalveable Bilstein 7100's with the remote reservoirs. Even if they cost more they are worth it and way better quaility. :brows:
