i thought about the bed, but haven't designed the bed for various stuff going there. inside i won't have room, with roll cage, inverter, cup holders-haha :D . i want to save room as its a narrow fit in the cab. this is a very small battery. i think its a perfect fit above the fan. the cooling hoses and the other crap are driving me crazy. who designed it? i will do trial fit when i remove the res-a-voir.

i come from a road racing background. its all about weight in the corners, having the whole vehicle, as much as possible take the corners, or in this case, bumps. i try to balance the suspension. after i get coilovers in front, i will corner weight it to make sure both sides are as equal as possible. plus i'm a anal perfectionist. so any detail is more than worth the trouble. when i'm done with the radiator & battery move i'll post before and after pics. by the way, magnacor spark wires are the best. cheaper at apex performance. :brows: yes that will move to. anything comes under the knife.

anybody swapped the battery and water reservoir on a 1988? two much plumbing. concerned about height of reservoir changing. i have a battery thats small enough to fit against the fire wall. i want to keep as much weight as i can between the axles. also the length of the hoses,[ radiator], is nuts.

i like doing the job right--- the first time.

thanks. i have heavy duty shackles that are about 3/8 of a inch longer, hole to hole. they are about 1/8 " thicker than the stock ones. if you look at the dakar rally trucks their springs are about flat, with 10 to 18 leaves. hard to count at 100 mph, on tv, deavers springs for xj is 12 to 15 leaves, and he said ,if custom made, for mine, 15 to 18 leaves. still thinking

there are four leafs in the spring. posted pics on new topic. you can see the front is low. deaver makes his springs 4 " in rear 5.5 " in front. he says it levels it up, if i can find a 57" eye to eye soft spring. if its on the shelf much cheaper. custom made is $900.00 list. poly performance are good guys to deal with, so when my ducks are in a row i"ll buy from them. was going deavers front and rear, but deaver in back and 2.5 [res] fox in front. haven't decided height or single or double spring. i need to decide ride height and than remove coils and cycle the front to see about binding. i'm going to put the coilover where the shock goes,[reinforcing where needed], and put a bump stop where the coil went. works for jeepspeed. i won't spend near the money they do. i can get it all for about $2000.00, instead of $5000.00. no jumping allowed on this rig. front dana 44- front high pinion, 31 " moser axle ,dodge truck brakes rear dana 44- scout, 31 " moser axle ,detroit locker, 4.09 front and rear changing lots of things for reliability. you know-- welding the x brace etc.

i was on the frame rail next to the bump stop, about the middle of the bump stop, as straight up and down as possible. on the mj it looks much higher than the xj. i want to keep the mj no higher than 3.5 in lift, if possible. center of gravity and all that. i like high desert running and i found with the xj,. it drove very well out there. i'm an old road racer so my thinking goes along those lines. with 33 in tires i can handle the baja 1000, since i like prerunning it. i know what works for me anyway. :D

measured this morning. distance was 12 1/2 in approx from middle of bump stop just inboard to top of axle tube. so 3.3 to 3.7 lift. but i have a 3.5 in lift on my xj and the distance is up to 2.5 in above on my mj. same wheel and tire comp. i believe i was told at time of purchase it was a 6 in lift, and it looks it. will post a pic , once i compack them. i have a soa on the mj. unknown spring, maybe re? thanks
