  1. what size rim should I use and what backspacing. keep in mind i want minimal trimming (yeah, 12.50's it's gonna be hard...might have to get TJ rims). going on a 1989 comanche pioneer shortbed if that helps you any.
  2. nope, frame's not broke on the comanche buckets, it's just the foam etc. inside the cushion that are sagging with age.
  3. For a little inspiration, check these pictures. They are what my buddy is building for his girlfriend's Chevy Tracker, and it will be her DD.HERE! It's overkill, for sure, but I doubt her tracker will go snap anytime soon. ya think? wow man, all that for a DD????and for your wife nonetheless?
  4. if your seats are broken in the tip-forward location, there is one very simple solution... get a screwdriver, hold latch up, reach around the seat and use screwdriver to move the latch. then, you need to look around the seat back's bottom edge for a small hole..you can trace the cable for the latch back and see where the cable's outside is mounted to, the hole is located right there as that mount is punched out from the seat frame at the factory. take the screwdriver (big one), and pry backwards on this "mount" via the hole. that bends back the mount to where it should be, and your seat tilt mechanism will work correctly
  5. waggy front end completely installed, just painted with some heat paint that was red *shrug* seemed like a good idea, at least now it's SOME sort of red.... and I looked through the 8 or 9 sets of tires that I have, and found a set that's almost new-looking on the tread, but someone had taken a pik and punctured the sidewalls. I fixed them with tire patch and we'll see if they leak or are a problem. the tires that came on it were shot. painted these ones black too :D anyways, I'm liking it and will repaint it to match the truck when I repaint the bottom edge after rust removal...then I'll glue a newer jeep emblem on the front. running board removal plans for tomorrow, and the chrome front bumper along with the brush guard and fog lights. opinions?
  6. if that was the plan you were getting at I mean...I'm not too sure what exactly you were trying to say regarding lifting the front??? and if you go bedless, can I buy your bed?
  7. you'll have to use the comanche stock rear springs, as the cherokee ones are too short. as pingpong said, new perches are needed as width is different. furthermore, your theory on leaving the front stock and the back spring-over, is wrong. if you spring over the rear on a comanche, you gain 5.5 to 6.5" depending on axle (more or less also depending). that means you will have to have front springs to match the rear, rather than shackles to match the front.
  8. how feasible is it that I could build a kit that will hold up to road and highway driving without having to worry about it?
  9. I use dual camaro 3.8 fans...the engine never overheats anyways, but the pair of them are MASSIVE so its nice to have them.

    aquariums?

pete, nice tank, and thanks for elaborating on the metals...i was gonna say byebye fishies. if ya put copper in a saltwater aquarium, even in a small amount, ALL invertebrates will die, your vert. life will suffer, and all of your live rock is now junk. ya can't wash the copper out of the rock once it's in. that gets expensive when a cheap saltwater fish is $30, inverts maybe $20 for something not too extravagent, and liverock at $10 per POUND. no metals in tanks...not a good idea, don't do it.
  14. YES! how much was that? is it yours? do ya have any measurements on it and where it's located on the frame? that's exactly what I want to do, but beefier on the frame-end mount.
  15. yep mike, a 2wd output spline won't work with a 4wd spacer and t-case. you'd need that output spline and for what it's worth, you'd SAVE money by buying a 4wd tranny... don't forget shifter handle and linkages for the 4wd...that's 2 rods, one pivot piece, and the bushing and mount for the pivot piece, then the handle.
  16. now with waggy front end. not painted, and not wired. simply temprarily installed while I decide if I like it or not... :D opinions? it'll be nice once it's painted for sure :D

    aquariums?

cichlid :D I was a cichlid fanatic at one point, that tank is now my saltwater tank...i got 25% of what all my fish were worth, then had no fish for a few months while the tank cured...then only a couple. after 1 year of having the tank, I can just now start gettin into it...yay saltwater!
  18. this is the 89, not the 3800 :D so it's gonna be wheeled. my "wheeling style" hasn't exactly come out of it's shell soo what I do now can always be redone later. it just needs to fit 33x12.50's with enough room for articulation WITHOUT major trimming.

    aquariums?

had my fair share of cichlids too. when I got rid of the oscar he was 11" from head to tail, my jack dempsey was 7", and I had a mated pair of firemouths in a 40 gallon breeder that i got $300 for. they were some strange firemouth that's fairly rare and were very pretty. every one of them suckers was mean, but the oscar would let me pet him and he'd do tricks for me.
  20. hmm...maybe i'll build the la mounts to fit underneath the stock x-member and just make them a permanent addition...hell, after I remove the stock LCA mounts, it's not like i can go back to stock...
  21. ok. the goal for now is to get it lifted with some used control arms, then I can design my crossmember and my mounting points. i won't build the mounting points into it until i've designed the LCAs but at least then i'll have just the base to deal with. for mounting the crossmember, does 6 1/2" bolts run through the frame horizontally sound good? that way I can just weld the nuts to the back side of the plate and also set it up to bolt rock rails to it or something...
  22. don't wanna buy one, and i can get the materials minus the joints for cheap. i was thinking of doing one with heim joints and graduating from there...then i realized that the only longarm kit i've seen on an xj with heims had bad heims after 2000 miles on the lift...
  23. Tom, I appreciate your stating what it is. i know i sounded like an @$$, but when i saw the lift that I had in mind, i was so thoroughly disgusted. i even saw one ON an mj in town and it was so freaking shoddy and just terrible. i like your lift, let me know when production comes around, as I'm gonna need a couple lift kits :D
  24. HAHAHAHA i work for menards and we HATE home depot. ironically, i'm building materials so i know what sheetrock is too! yay for drywall and mud! hope they don't forget the fiberglass tape! haha, wow, i'm happy now!
